We SLOWLY MOVE DOWN THE ROAD.
The town is dark and quiet. Everyone has gone home for the
night.
EXT. BUFFY'S BEAR RIVER HOUSE - NIGHT
We PUSH IN on the house. Again, dark and quiet.
BUFFY (V.O.)
"My life closed twice before it's
close/ It yet remains to see...
INT. BUFFY'S BEAR RIVER HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
We PUSH IN on the living room, toward a table. As we near
the table, we see an envelope leaning against one of the
lamps.
BUFFY (V.O.)
...If Immortality unveil/ A third
event to me.
ANGLE ON : THE ENVELOPE
On the envelope, there's writing. It reads : "RYAN CRANE"
INT. BUFFY'S BEAR RIVER HOUSE - BASEMENT - NIGHT
Also dark, and silent.
ANGLE ON : THE SUPPORT THINGY
Where Rip was tied up. All that remains now are the ropes
that once bound him.
BUFFY (V.O.)
So huge, so hopeless to conceive/ As
these that twice befell...
INT. BUFFY'S SUNNYDALE HOUSE - LIVING ROOM/FOYER - NIGHT
The same house we all know and love, but it's somehow
different. It's decorated, but it's somehow off. Something
isn't quite right about it.
It's also dark and silent.
We SLOWLY PUSH IN on the front door.

BUFFY (V.O.)
Parting is all we know of heaven/
and all we need of hell."
The front door bursts open, and BUFFY, WILLOW, XANDER, DAWN,
GILES and JENNA rush in, closing the door behind them.
Buffy turns on a light and everyone looks around the place.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Looks empty enough. We can stay here
while we work on a plan.
XANDER
Plan. Right. Good idea.
(beat)
Who's up for some good ol' fashioned
running away?
BUFFY
Xander, not now. This isn't the time.
XANDER
If this isn't, I don't know what is.
BUFFY
(to Giles)
So, I guess we figured out what
happened to all the Slayers.
JENNA
The gathering.
Buffy looks to Jenna.
BUFFY
What?
JENNA
The gathering. That's what Kennedy
called it when she was talking to
me.
GILES
You knew about this?
JENNA
Not this. I had no idea this is what
she meant. She never told me what it
was.
BUFFY
That doesn't matter now. What else
did she say?

JENNA
That's it. She gave me a bunch of
lines about letting me go back to
being normal, and then had me take
the Scythe. I didn't ask many
questions.
(to self)
Stupid.
Buffy stops and thinks.
WILLOW
They can't know, right? I mean, the
other Slayers can't be walking to
their deaths willingly. Maybe we
could explain it to them.
XANDER
Before or after they throw cars at
us?
BUFFY
Xander's right. They won't listen.
Kennedy's given them the same lines
she fed Jenna, which probably means
that they all think I'm the evil
one. We'll have to do this another
way.
GILES
Perhaps it would be best if we sat
down. We're all tired.
BUFFY
Sure. Every Slayer in the world's
about to die, so why not take a load
off?
GILES
I just mean that we need to think
this through. We can't make any rash
decisions. We should try to remain
calm.
Buffy takes a deep breath.
BUFFY
You're right. I'm sorry.
(beat)
I just can't believe this is
happening. I can't believe I let it.
JENNA
There was no way you could know.
Buffy looks at Jenna. She realizes how far Jenna's come in
the last few months, just by hearing that line.

DAWN
She's right. We'll stop this. We
just have to come up with a plan.
(beat)
Which, I guess we should probably do
soon, considering that the Night of
Morel Divineh is less than a day
away.
(beat)
But, no pressure.
BUFFY
Right. No pressure.
Though Buffy is saying things that make it sound as though
she's feeling better, it's obvious that she's not. The look
in her eyes tells us that she is very uneasy.

END OF TEASER
5.
ACT ONE
FADE IN:
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - NIGHT
KENNEDY stands in the center of the courtyard, surrounded by
HUNDREDS OF SLAYERS. She's giving a speech.
KENNEDY
This is it. We're finally gathered
in one place, ready to take back our
true destinies. None of you wanted
this. None of you chose to be called
to be a Slayer. Why should you have
to live with that burden?
ANGLE ON : THE SLAYERS
We can see that they're all a little nervous, but eager to
get this over with. They all just want to be normal.
ANGLE ON : RHONA
Among the other Slayers, watching Kennedy speak. Her face is
without expression.
KENNEDY (CONT'D)
The Night of Morel Divineh is here.
By this time tomorrow, you'll be
free.
(beat)
Now, rest. Tomorrow is a big day and
we might have crashers at the party.
We have to be prepared.
Kennedy is finished speaking. She walks off, toward the
school. ETHAN joins her.
ETHAN
That was quite a little speech you
gave.
KENNEDY
You should see my dad give one of
his speeches.
ETHAN
I'm sure that'd be thrilling. Really.
(beat)
Are you prepared for the ritual?
KENNEDY
As prepared as I'll ever be.

ETHAN
Somehow, that's not entirely
comforting.
They walk into the school.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS - NIGHT
Again, it's not quite like either school that we saw before.
It's a blend of both Sunnydale Highs.
There are MORE SLAYERS sitting on the floor as Kennedy and
Ethan make their way down the hall.
KENNEDY
I'm ready. I know the spell. I know
the choreography. What else is there
to know?
They walk into a classroom, and close the door behind them.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - CLASSROOM - CONTINUOUS
AMY is waiting in the classroom, with the Scythe. She's
looking it over. Kennedy's not sure she likes that.
KENNEDY
What are you doing?
AMY
Relax. I'm just checking it out.
(beat)
Powerful little ax, isn't it?
Kennedy grabs the Scythe.
KENNEDY
Just leave it alone.
AMY
Someone has trust issues.
KENNEDY
I just don't need you trying a spell
and blowing it up before I get a
chance to use it.
AMY
Right, you're great noble cause.
Entirely not selfish.
KENNEDY
(defensive)
Those girls never chose this life.
I'm just offering them a chance to
get rid of it.

AMY
Whatever you say.
Kennedy doesn't feel like being around Ethan or Amy. She
takes the Scythe and leaves the room. Amy watches her leave.
Once she's gone, Amy turns to Ethan.
AMY (CONT'D)
And I thought I had issues.
INT. BUFFY'S SUNNYDALE HOUSE - KITCHEN - MORNING
Xander is in the kitchen, looking through the cabinets when
Buffy walks in. She sits on one of the stools near the island.
BUFFY
Find any food?
XANDER
Nope. I guess whatever rebuilt the
place didn't go shopping for edibles.
BUFFY
Just as well. I'm not sure I'd be
able to keep anything down.
Xander goes to another stool and sits.
XANDER
Kinda feels like old times, doesn't
it?
BUFFY
Yeah.
(beat)
I was kinda hoping that those days
were behind me. Like the world would
stop ending just because all those
girls were chosen.
XANDER
And now they go and end it anyway.
That's gratitude for you.
BUFFY
At least all of the others knew,
y'know? I mean, Glory and the Master,
and Mayor Wilkins knew what they
were trying to do. These girls don't
have a clue.
XANDER
Wilkins? Was that his name? I just
keep calling him "The Mayor".
(then)
But, beside the point. You were
talking about clueless girls.

BUFFY
(ignoring Xander)
They shouldn't have been brought
into this. They're not prepared, and
there's nobody to train them. How
could I have been so stupid?
XANDER
You're not stupid, Buff. You did
what you had to, in order to win the
battle.
BUFFY
Did I ever mention how I came to
that decision?
Xander doesn't reply.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
The First.
Okay, that piques Xander's interest. Buffy looks down.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
The First came to me and fed me all
of these lines about how alone I
was. How I'd always be alone. It
played on my own feelings.
(beat)
It led me to the Scythe, and then
pointed me in the direction and gave
me a shove like I was a blindfolded
kid, trying to hit a pinata. I knew
how the First played these games,
but I fell for it anyway. I thought
I was being so smart.
She looks at Xander again.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
So, how's that for a mood killer?
You try to be all comforting and
then you find out that I pretty much
destroyed the entire world.
Xander looks Buffy squarely in the eyes with a steely
expression.
XANDER
You were never alone.
Buffy smiles.
BUFFY
Yeah, I finally got that message.

XANDER
You'll stop this. It's how we work.
Big drama, and then we stop it just
in time. Planet saved, bring on summer
vacation.
(beat)
You're stronger than this world.
Don't try to deny that fact.
Buffy takes in his words. They mean a lot to her. Finally,
she moves on.
BUFFY
How 'bout you?
XANDER
Me?
BUFFY
How are you handling this situation?
(beat)
The last time we went into battle,
things didn't turn out as well as
they could have.
Xander gets her meaning and emotions flood back to his mind.
XANDER
I can't say I haven't thought about
that.
(beat)
Y'think Willow'd agree to just sit
this one out?
BUFFY
I don't think so.
Buffy puts a hand on Xander's shoulder.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
When we're fighting tomorrow, just
remember that we're fighting against
the same thing that killed Anya and
Spike. The First planned this. We're
still fighting the cause that they
died for.
XANDER
Then I guess we'd better kick some
ass.
Buffy smiles at Xander.
BUFFY
Count on it.
10.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - BATHROOM - DAY
Kennedy is standing in the bathroom, looking at herself in
the mirror. The Scythe is resting on the sink in front of
her, next to the box with the amulet in it. She takes a deep
breath, and then looks at her watch.
After checking the time, she picks up the Scythe and looks
it over. She closes her eyes and takes in the power that
it's giving off.
INT. BUFFY'S SUNNYDALE HOUSE - DAWN'S ROOM - DAY
Dawn walks into her room, and takes a look around. It's pretty
much the same as she remembers it, but she feels oddly out
of place here.
She walks to the bed and sits down, resting her head in her
hands.
After a moment, Buffy knocks on the door and walks in. Dawn
looks up at her.
DAWN
Hey.
BUFFY
I'm not spoiling quiet alone time,
am I?
DAWN
I just needed to get away from the
group for a while. It's kinda tense.
BUFFY
Yeah.
Buffy sits down next to Dawn.
DAWN
It's weird being back here. I mean,
it's the same as I left it, but it
seems... I don't know.
BUFFY
Like you shouldn't be here? Like
you're walking around inside a memory?
DAWN
Yeah. At the same time though, it
kinda still feels like home.
BUFFY
Like we never left.

DAWN
(beat)
Not really. I think things have
changed too much for me to jump back
here like nothing ever happened. I'm
not sure I'm the same person I was
when I lived here.
(beat)
Kinda wish I was though.
Dawn looks down.
BUFFY
You should call him before we fight.
I'm not saying you should tell him
everything, but you should talk to
him. Just to talk.
DAWN
I'm not sure we're in a talking place.
Dawn looks at Buffy, struggling with her thoughts.
DAWN (CONT'D)
How am I supposed to do this? How
can I go about life, never telling
anyone about the reality of the world?
BUFFY
It's hard. You just have to remember
that this is easier for them. As
much as it kills us, it keeps them
safer.
DAWN
Does it? Sometimes, I don't know for
sure.
Buffy stands, feeling a little uncomfortable.
BUFFY
I think it does. Sometimes, I sit in
bed in the morning, wishing that I
never told Xander or Willow the truth.
I look at them, and how much they've
gone through, and I just wonder what
they'd be like if they never had to
deal with any of this. The magic, or
the demons. How much of their pain
could have been spared if they never
found out? Just how much did I ruin
their lives?
Dawn looks at Buffy, a little surprised. She's never heard
Buffy say this before.

DAWN
You can't think they'd want that. I
mean, yeah, there's been pain, but
there's been good things too. There's
been love, and strength, and family
that they'd never have if it wasn't
for you. They know what to look out
for now. They know how to survive.
Because of you, Willow and Xander
can take on this world and the demons
that live on it.
BUFFY
(long beat)
Or because of me, they'll die trying.
Buffy sits back down next to Dawn. She looks Dawn in the
eyes.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Tonight, if we lose this battle, you
guys have to live with the outcome.
If we lose this, I die and you're
all on your own.
DAWN
You won't die.
BUFFY
It wouldn't be the first time, Dawn.
We have to be realistic about this.
Sometimes, I lose. And what happens
to all of you when I'm not around to
help anymore?
Dawn thinks for a moment. Finally, she looks back at Buffy
with strength in her eyes.
DAWN
Then we'll handle it ourselves.
Because we know how. Because you
gave us the power to take care of
ourselves. You made us strong.
Buffy just looks at Dawn for a beat, taking in what her sister
just told her. As she absorbs these words, she sees the
strength in Dawn's eyes.
BUFFY
I think you will.
Buffy looks down at the locket that she's wearing, thinking
hard. She puts her hand on it.

BUFFY (CONT'D)
If-- If something does happen to me,
I want you to take this. If I die, I
want you to have it.
Dawn thinks about it for a second. She nods her head,
accepting Buffy's words.
DAWN
No. You're not gonna die. You're
stronger than that.
Buffy smiles.
BUFFY
Just in case.
GILES (O.S.)
(calling from
downstairs)
Buffy. Dawn. Are you up there?
Buffy looks back toward the door.
BUFFY
(calling back)
Coming.
Buffy looks to Dawn again.
DAWN
I guess we should get down there.
Buffy nods.
BUFFY
You go. I'll be there in a sec. I
just wanna splash some water on my
face.
Dawn pats Buffy's shoulder as she stands and walks out of
the room. As she leaves, Buffy takes a look around. She takes
a deep breath.
INT. BUFFY'S SUNNYDALE HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY
Buffy walks down the stairs, into the living room. All of
the other Scoobies are already in there, preparing weapons
and looking over blueprints that are unrolled on the table.
When Buffy walks into the room, she sees the blueprints.
BUFFY
What are those?

XANDER
Blueprints for the school. We found
them in a closet.
BUFFY
Good. We'll need them. We'll have
to know that place like the backs of
our hands. To get through those
Slayers and stop Kennedy, it won't
be a matter of fighting our way
through. That'd be impossible.
They'd kill us all good and bloody
before we got through the front door.
We're gonna need stealth. We're
gonna need a way to get in there
without anyone noticing us until
it's too late. I want to be holding
the Scythe in my hands by the time
they realize something's wrong. Sound
good to all of you?
XANDER
Well, yeah.
(beat)
Except these are blueprints for the
Sunnydale High that we fought in
last time, not the new hybrid school.
They're actually kinda pointless.
WILLOW
But they look neat, all rolled out
on the table like that. Makes it
look like we're planning.
Buffy takes in this information.
BUFFY
Oh.
(beat)
Then I guess we'll just have to fight
our way in.
JENNA
Kinda wishing I hadn't heard the
"good and bloody" part of your last
speech now.
BUFFY
No, we'll do this. We have two things
that the other Slayers don't. Weapons
and training. They'll be sloppy.
That's an advantage to us.
DAWN
So, what's the plan? We can't just
go in like they were demons, can we?
These are just girls. Human beings.
15.
GILES
We must do whatever it takes to
prevent the ritual from taking place.
If saving the lot of them means
sacrificing the few--
BUFFY
Not gonna happen.
GILES
What?
BUFFY
It's not gonna happen. I've let too
many of these girls die already. I
won't let it happen again.
GILES
You're not thinking clearly.
BUFFY
Oh, I'm thinking very clearly. My
brain's a crystal right now.
(beat)
Which is, like, really clear.
(beat)
Whatever. Point is, I won't kill
them. I'll fight them. I'll hurt
them. I'll knock them out if I have
to, but at the end of the day, these
girls either live, or I'm going down
with them. That's not up for debate.
DAWN
So, again I ask... What's the plan?
BUFFY
Plan is, we fight our way through
the Slayers and get to Kennedy. Once
I have the Scythe or the amulet,
game's over.
WILLOW
And how are we sure they won't kill
us?
XANDER
A very reasonable question.
BUFFY
They won't be after you. You're not
a threat.
WILLOW
But if we're kicking their ass, won't
they want to kick our ass?

BUFFY
Then you stay back.
GILES
What? Buffy, you can't be serious.
BUFFY
Look, there's no way you guys can
take on Slayers. Me and Jenna are
the only two that stand a chance.
JENNA
Great, so while they sit out, I get
killed. Fun.
BUFFY
You're not getting killed. Nobody's
getting killed.
XANDER
This isn't how we work.
BUFFY
It is now.
(beat)
I know it sounds insane, but it has
to be this way. I made this mess.
WILLOW
We, Buffy. We made this mess.
BUFFY
However you wanna look at it, it's
mine to clean up. You're not exactly
Samatha Stephens anymore, Will.
Willow looks down. All of her feelings of weakness returning
to her. Xander sees this and doesn't like it.
XANDER
She can take care of herself. We all
can.
BUFFY
Enough. Talking's over.
(beat)
Look, I need you guys there. I'm not
saying that you won't have work to
do. You just have to stay out of the
fight, and make sure that Amy and
whoever else Kennedy has working
with her don't decide to turn me
into a rat.
(to Giles)
How long do we have?

Giles shakes his head. He still doesn't like her plan, but
she's in charge.
GILES
I don't know.
Buffy grabs a sword off of a nearby table.
BUFFY
Then grab some weapons, 'cause we're
leaving as soon as we can. The sooner
we get there, the better chance we
have of stopping it.
FADE TO BLACK:
END OF ACT ONE

ACT TWO
FADE IN:
EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - DAY
The SUV drives down the road slowly. The street is empty in
a way that just doesn't seem natural.
The sun is shining bright in the sky. It looks like it'd
actually be a nice day if it weren't for the possible deaths
of thousands of girls all over the world, and the downfall
of humanity as we know it.
INT. SUV - DAY
Everyone is sitting in silence, just watching the world pass
by their windows as they hold onto their weapons of choice.
This is the lull before the big battle.
Again, Giles is behind the wheel. He looks straight ahead
for a few moments, but then looks over to Buffy. He can see
that her mind is full of deep thoughts. He wants to say
something to her, to make her feel better, but he can't think
of anything.
When he looks back to the road, his eyes widen and he slams
on the brakes. Everyone in the car is jolted back to reality.
WILLOW
What's going on?
Giles points ahead. Everyone looks.
ANGLE ON : THE WINDSHIELD
Through it, we can see DEMONS (a lot of them) starting to
gather in front of the car.
BUFFY
They know it's coming.
XANDER
And they know we know where it's
going down.
DAWN
Can we floor it, and run 'em all
over?
GILES
This is a rental.
(off Buffy's look)
Also, it probably wouldn't work.
BUFFY
We fight.
19.
JENNA
Won't it kinda ruin the fun if we
get killed on the way to the bigger
fight?
BUFFY
We don't have a choice.
Buffy looks back to give everyone their orders.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
We're going to have to make it the
rest of the way on foot. Everyone
just try to push past the demons and
get to the school as fast as you
can.
XANDER
Won't they follow us?
BUFFY
Lot of Slayers at the school. Let's
just hope a few of them help us out.
(beat)
Are we ready?
XANDER
Is that rhetorical?
BUFFY
Let's go.
Buffy opens her door and hops out. Everyone else follows,
holding onto their weapons.
EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - CONTINUOUS
The gang prepares to fight as the demons get closer and
closer.
Toward the front of the demon lines, there's a REPTILIAN
DEMON, wearing a long robe.
REPTILIAN DEMON
Show us, Slayer! Show us or die.
Buffy looks back to Jenna, and then to the reptilian demon.
BUFFY
I'm sorry, were you talking to me,
or her?
The reptilian demon HISSES.
XANDER
Give us the word, Buff.

BUFFY
Word.
With that, Buffy charges toward the group of demons. She
swings her sword through the air as she goes.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
Also rushing into battle. Once in the middle of the mess,
one of the demons grabs onto Xander, pulling him back.
XANDER
Little help here!
Dawn spins around and sees what's happening. She swings her
ax, taking off the arm of the demon that's holding Xander.
Xander gets free.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Thanks.
DAWN
Let's go!
ANGLE ON : BUFFY AND JENNA
Making their way through the demons much easier than the
others, though still struggling. They're near the back of
the herd.
JENNA
We're almost out.
BUFFY
Keep fighting. We have to wait for
the others.
Jenna turns around, looking back at the others, who are still
fighting to make it through the demons.
JENNA
Should we help them?
BUFFY
They can handle it. It just takes
them a little longer.
Jenna continues to battle the demons that are coming at her.
Finally, she turns around and faces the others again.
JENNA
Hurry up!
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - HALLWAY - DAY
Kennedy is standing in the hallway. The other Slayers that
once rested there are gone, leaving her alone.
21.
She's still holding onto the Scythe and the amulet box,
waiting.
One of the classroom doors opens, and Ethan walks out. He
goes to Kennedy.
ETHAN
It's almost time.
KENNEDY
I know that.
ETHAN
Yes. You probably also know that
this probably won't go smoothly.
Things very rarely do in this town.
Are you prepared for that?
KENNEDY
I can handle whatever's thrown my
way.
ETHAN
I'm glad you think so.
EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - DAY
Buffy, and the others are still fighting the demons. A few
demons are laying in the street, dead. Others are trying to
get at the people who are fighting them.
Xander is engaged in some fighting with a demon which is
covered in what looks like mold. He and the demon are fighting
for the ax that Xander brought with him.
Finally, Xander knees the demon in the gut and pulls the ax
free. He whacks the demon across the face with the blade,
sending the demon to the ground.
Once that demon's gone, Xander turns to Willow.
XANDER
I could really go for another one of
your demonic super eyes right about
now.
Willow doesn't respond. She's too busy, struggling with a
cat-like demon. The demon keeps trying to scratch at her,
but Willow manages to avoid the claws. Willow smiles, proud
of her evasion skills.
WILLOW
See? This is why I'm a dog person.
Another demon bumps into the cat demon, and both fall to the
ground. Willow looks a little disappointed at first, wondering
who took out her demon.
22.
She looks over to see who did it, and sees Giles, who is
already battling with yet another demon.
DAWN
(dodging demon punches)
This really isn't going as well as
I'd hoped.
Buffy grabs a demon and throws it at the demon that Dawn is
fighting. Dawn uses this chance to join up with Buffy.
BUFFY
We have to get to the school.
Dawn punches a little demon that's coming after her. The
demon drops pretty quickly.
DAWN
Look on the bright side. At least we
know the spell takes place at night.
That's not for, like, hours.
As soon as Dawn says that, THUNDER ROARS through the sky.
Buffy and Dawn look up.
DAWN (CONT'D)
What was that?
BUFFY
Not good.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - HALLWAY - DAY
Kennedy and Ethan look up, as though they could actually see
the sky. Ethan looks at his watch.
ETHAN
It's happening. The countdown is
nearly complete.
Kennedy takes a deep breath.
KENNEDY
Let's go.
She starts to walk toward the exit at the end of the hallway.
Ethan follows her.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS
Kennedy and Ethan exit the building, and are joined by Amy,
who is already outside.
The courtyard is packed tightly with hundreds of Slayers, as
is the balcony-type hallway on the upper level of the school.
All of the Slayers are watching Kennedy as she makes her way
toward the stairs.
23.
When she reaches them, she turns around, and looks at Ethan
and Amy.
KENNEDY
You two, start telling the girls
that it's time for this to happen.
AMY
Why don't you just get up the stairs
and tell them yourself.
KENNEDY
Do I look like Morpheus to you?
Besides, I have other things to worry
about. Just tell them to get ready,
and that we'll need them to keep any
party crashers away from me.
As Kennedy turns and walks up the stairs, one of the Slayers
in the courtyard, DIANA (a younger teenager) calls out to
her.
DIANA
What's happening?
Kennedy doesn't look back. Ethan and Amy start to talk with
the Slayers, and telling them to pass along what they're
being told.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
As she reaches the top of the stairs, she turns around and
opens the box that contains the amulet. She pulls the amulet
out of the box, and lets the box fall to the ground.
MORE THUNDER ROARS.
EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - DAY
The fight against the demons is continuing. While there are
demon corpses on the ground, the fight is still a hard one.
For each demon that's killed, another takes it's place.
Buffy is being held by a large red demon with cloven feet.
It's strong, but she's not finished yet.
She manages to bend over, and flip the demon to the ground.
As she does, she grabs the demon's arm and twists it until
it SNAPS.
She looks back to the others, who are all still fighting.
BUFFY
Giles, what's with the thunder?

ANGLE ON : GILES
Struggling with a demon, and very close to losing the fight.
GILES
(between punches)
No idea.
(beat)
Little help here?
As Buffy starts to head to Giles, the demons all stop
fighting. They drop whoever they're attacking at the moment
and turn away. They start walking toward the school.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
On the ground, and out of breath. He looks at the demon he
was fighting as it walks away.
XANDER
Hey! Get back here!
Willow helps Xander to his feet.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Is it me, or are demons getting ruder
these days? Leaving a fight right in
the middle like that.
WILLOW
They just have no class.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Watching the demons go.
BUFFY
They're onto the amulet. We have to
beat them to the school.
Dawn joins Buffy. She's bleeding from a cut on her head.
DAWN
We can take care of the demons. You
and Jenna go.
Buffy looks at Dawn.
BUFFY
Are you sure?
Dawn gives Buffy a nod with a sense of calm that reminds
Buffy of their earlier conversation.
DAWN
Go.

Buffy nods and then looks to Jenna. Jenna takes the hint and
both of the Slayers take off running as fast as they can.
Once they're gone, Willow, Xander and Giles join up with
Dawn. They're holding onto their weapons again.
DAWN (CONT'D)
We have to keep the demons back.
Let's go.
Dawn raises her ax and starts to run after the demons.
XANDER
We're so gonna die.
Willow nods in agreement as they rush after Dawn.
Giles takes a moment to watch them run off. He can't help
but feel proud, seeing them take on such a huge task and
realizing how far they've all come.
Finally, he follows.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
As she reaches the back of the demon lines, she buries her
ax into the back of one of the demons, taking it down quickly.
She pulls her ax back out, and charges at another demon, who
I'll call ROTAK. As she swings at Rotak, he sees her coming
and grabs the ax from Dawn. He flips the ax in his hand,
grabbing onto the handle, and swings at Dawn. Luckily, she
manages to avoid it.
The Rotak laughs.
ROTAK
Lucky girl. Let's see you do that
again.
He swipes at her with his free hand, which she ducks away
from. As she does this, he brings the ax down at her from
above. To avoid this, Dawn hits the street and rolls out of
the way. She quickly gets back to her feet. Rotak GROWLS.
DAWN
With all this luck, you'd think I'd
be in Vegas or something.
(beat)
Well, in a few years. I don't think
they'd actually let me--
Before she can finish the sentence, Rotak swings at her again.
26.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
He rushes up behind another demon. The demon he rushes up
behind is a blue demon, from the Sisterhood of Jhe.
As he nears the demon, he jumps onto her back, and thus the
struggle begins. The demon swings him around, trying to get
him off of her back, but he refuses to let go. As he holds
on, he pounds her in the back of the head with his fist.
Finally, she flips him onto the ground and steps over him,
looking down at him.
Xander cocks his head slightly, recognizing the breed.
XANDER
Hey, I know you.
Realizing what kind of demon this is fuels his drive to fight.
He grabs her leg and pulls it out from under her, causing
her to drop. Once she's down, Xander gets back up to his
feet.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Ha! You don't like it so much when
you're the one with the big bruised
head, do you?
He pulls a dagger from his belt and stabs the demon through
the chest. She dies.
Xander looks up, proud of himself, but nobody noticed.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Oh. Right. Fighting.
Xander picks a new target and attacks.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - DAY
Buffy and Jenna arrive at the courtyard, and stop short behind
the large gathering of Slayers. The place is packed, which
makes it hard for then to see anything.
JENNA
This is impossible. How are we
supposed to get through here?
BUFFY
We'll find a way.
Buffy looks around, trying to spot a path through the crowd.
Finally, she starts to push through it, with Jenna close
behind her.
The other Slayers don't pay them much attention at first,
but the area is so crammed that there is a lot of pushing

and shoving being done. There's also a lot of talking, which
makes it hard to hear any one voice.
ANGLE ON : JENNA
Trying to keep up with Buffy, but finding it difficult. She
keeps being pushed off of her path.
As she tries to force her way through, she gets an elbow in
the gut from a Slayer who doesn't see her coming.
JENNA
Ouch! Watch it.
The other Slayer turns around. It's now that we can see that
this Slayer is CANDY. She's dressed a little less slutty
now, and there aren't any neck wounds.
Candy looks Jenna over.
CANDY
Sorry. I didn't see you.
Jenna ignores her, trying to catch up with Buffy still. As
Jenna looks around, she stops walking.
JENNA
Oh, no. No. No. No.
She begins to look around, frantic.
JENNA (CONT'D)
Buffy!
Jenna's lost her. She has no idea where Buffy's gone, and
the other Slayers talking are making it impossible for her
to make herself heard by Buffy.
JENNA'S POV
The crowd is dense and pushy. Buffy is nowhere to be seen.
ANGLE ON : JENNA
Not liking her current situation.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Still pushing her way through the crowd. She is still looking
around for a plan of attack.
She looks back, looking for Jenna. When she doesn't see Jenna
behind her, she stops walking.

BUFFY
(calling out)
Jenna?
(louder)
Jenna?
Buffy still can't see her. There are too many Slayers. She
decides to keep moving. Once again, she begins to push through
the crowd.
ANGLE ON : RHONA
Not too far from where Buffy is pushing her way through.
Rhona sees Buffy pushing her way through the crowd and
realizes that something is up right away.
Rhona begins to push her way through the crowd.
PULL BACK to show that Rhona is headed for Ethan, while Buffy
is still pushing her way toward the center of the courtyard.
ANGLE ON : ETHAN
Talking with another one of the Slayers.
ETHAN
Be prepared. Tell as many as you
can. We mustn't allow anyone to ruin
this event. Do you understand?
The Slayer nods.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
Good then. Go tell the others.
The Slayer walks off. Ethan turns around to speak with another
Slayer when Rhona walks up behind him and grabs his shoulder.
RHONA
Hey!
Ethan turns.
ETHAN
What is it?
RHONA
Thought you might wanna know, I saw
Buffy Summers in the crowd. She's
here.
Ethan's eyes jump over to the crowd right away, scanning for
Buffy.
ETHAN
Where?

RHONA
She was walking toward the center.
ETHAN
Were there any others with her?
Rhona shakes her head.
RHONA
Didn't see any.
ETHAN
Good. Keep looking for anyone else
that might be helping her.
Ethan leaves Rhona behind and starts pushing toward the
fountain. When he reaches it, he steps onto it's ledge and
scans the crowd again.
When he finds it impossible to see through the crowd, he
calls out.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
Quiet!
The crowd is still making noise. Ethan looks back.
ETHAN'S POV
Amy is standing by the school, talking with another Slayer.
She looks up and sees him.
Ethan puts a finger over his lips.
ANGLE ON : AMY
Getting the message, Amy's EYES TURN BLACK. She mumbles
something to herself that we can't hear over the crowd.
Suddenly, a BALL OF LIGHT shoots from Amy's mouth and over
the crowd. When it's right in the center, the light POPS
with a LOUD BANG.
The crowd goes silent.
ANGLE ON : ETHAN
Looking back at the crowd.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
I need everyone's attention!
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
She looks back and sees Ethan standing on the fountain. When
she does, her eyes widen slightly as she realizes who has
been helping Kennedy while Amy's been in the past.

BUFFY
(to herself)
Son of a bitch.
ETHAN (O.S.)
We have an intruder amongst us! A
Slayer named Buffy. One who would
stop this event from happening.
Buffy starts to look around, not wanting to be noticed just
yet. She ducks her head slightly.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
At the top of the stairs, holding the amulet in one hand and
the Scythe in the other. When she hears Buffy's name, her
eyes shoot to the crowd, the same way Ethan's did. She begins
to scan the area, looking for Buffy.
ETHAN (O.S.) (CONT'D)
We must find her and keep her from
the amulet.
ANGLE ON : CHAO-AHN
In the crowd, not too far from Buffy. When she sees Buffy,
she smiles.
CHAO-AHN
(in Chinese, which I
can't translate)
Finally, someone I know.
(waving)
Hi, Buffy!
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
As she hears her name being spoken, her eyes widen. She's
busted and she knows it.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
Seeing where Chao-Ahn is, and who she's looking at. Kennedy
points to Buffy with the blade of the Scythe.
KENNEDY
There!
ANGLE ON : ETHAN
Seeing Buffy now too.
ETHAN
Stop her! Keep her away from the
stairs!

ANGLE ON : BUFFY
She lifts her head and prepares for battle as the rest of
the Slayers close in on her.
BUFFY
Uh-oh.
The battle begins. Slayer after Slayer jumps on top of Buffy,
hitting her. Buffy tries to fight them off, but there are
too many of them. She falls to the ground, and is pinned
there. As the other Slayers hold her there, she struggles
and yells.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Stop it! Get off of me! Stop!
But the others don't give an inch. Buffy is trapped.

ACT THREE
FADE IN:
EXT. RESIDENTIAL STREET - DAY
Willow, Xander, Dawn and Giles continue to battle the demons
that are making their way toward the school.
As Dawn finishes off another one, she looks around and then
back to Giles.
DAWN
There's too many. They're getting
through.
GILES
Get to the school. We'll try to cut
them off there.
Dawn nods, and starts to run toward the school.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW AND XANDER
Battling two demons. Willow's demon grabs her by the neck
and picks her up.
As she struggles, she manages to kick the demon in the chest,
and push off of it, allowing her to escape.
As she gets back to her feet, she swings her ax and kills
the demon.
As her demon drops, she looks to Xander, who is still
struggling with his demon.
XANDER
Go! Dawn needs you.
WILLOW
I'm not gonna leave you here!
Giles rushes to Xander's side and helps him with the demon.
GILES
Willow, go with Dawn. We'll follow
as soon as we can.
WILLOW
But--
GILES
Go!
Willow doesn't want to leave, but eventually does. She runs
off in the same direction that Dawn ran in.

EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - DAY
Dawn approaches the school, and takes in the sight of all
the Slayers, who are yelling and causing a big fuss. Of
course, Dawn doesn't know why they're yelling and fussing,
she just knows that it's noisy.
Willow soon joins her here and stops short when she sees the
Slayers.
WILLOW
Wow, it looks like so many more when
you're up close.
DAWN
I don't see Buffy or Jenna. Do you?
WILLOW
No. But...
(turns around)
I see a whole lot of demons coming
this way. Do ya think any of these
Slayers might help us kill a bunch
of them?
DAWN
We can hope.
Dawn turns around and prepares for more fighting against the
demons that are coming her way.
From behind Willow and Dawn, Jenna emerges from the crowd.
She grabs Dawn's shoulder.
JENNA
Hey.
Dawn is surprised, and jumps a little, but then turns around.
When she sees Jenna, she's a little relieved. Then she
realizes that Buffy's not there.
DAWN
Where's Buffy?
JENNA
The others have her pinned. I can't
even get to her.
WILLOW
We have to help her.
Dawn mulls this over. She looks to the crowd of Slayers, and
then to the demons headed for the courtyard.
DAWN
We can't. We have to keep the demons
back.

WILLOW
(confused)
But--
DAWN
We have to fight off the demons, at
least until these Slayers start doing
it themselves. Kennedy getting this
power is bad, but a demon getting it
would be worse. Buffy can handle
herself.
(beat)
I hope.
Willow doesn't like it, but she accepts it. She gives Dawn a
nod.
JENNA
Where are the guys?
WILLOW
Coming. They just had to kill a few
demons first.
JENNA
Well, I hope they hurry.
As the demons reach the courtyard, Willow, Dawn and Jenna
raise their weapons and attack with all their might.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Still pinned on the ground, screaming at the other Slayers.
BUFFY
You don't know what you're doing!
You don't understand!
Ethan walks up to her, and looks down with a smile.
ETHAN
Hello, Buffy.
BUFFY
I don't know how you got out of
prison, Ethan, but you'd best be
running like hell.
ETHAN
Strong words from such a pinned down
Slayer.
(beat)
How's ol' Ripper doing?

BUFFY
I imagine you'll see for yourself
when he's burying his loafer in your
ass.
Ethan chuckles. He looks up at Kennedy.
ETHAN
Well, look at that. I'd say it's
just about time to end this
conversation.
Buffy struggles against the Slayers that are holding her
down, and eventually gets a view of Kennedy.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
She wraps the chain of the amulet around the Scythe and raises
it into the air, and then closes her eyes.
KENNEDY
(in a demon language)
Vortala meson noctu Morel Divineh.
Jubris en sokree.
(translation)
I call upon the source of Morel
Divineh. Bring forth the night.
She keeps her eyes closed as the AMULET BEGINS TO GLOW.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW, DAWN AND JENNA
Battling a group of demons. Willow isn't having an easy time
with hers. Both she and the demon are holding onto her ax,
trying to get it from the other.
Jenna has lost her weapon and is now battling it out with a
demon, hand to hand. After getting punched rather hard in
the face, she returns with a barrage of punches of her own.
Dawn, meanwhile, is trying to stab at her demon with a knife
she's pulled after losing her primary weapon. The demon
refuses to sit still long enough to get stabbed. It keeps
ducking out of the way like a hyper jack-in-the-box.
DAWN
(annoyed)
Would you stop moving and let me
stab you?
Willow's getting into serious trouble now. The demon that
she's struggling with twists the ax, causing Willow to lose
her grip on it. Her eyes widen as the demon raises the ax,
and prepared to swing at her.
36.
Just before it can, a sword blade comes through its chest.
It's pulled back out, and the demon drops to the ground,
dead.
REVEAL Giles standing behind the demon.
GILES
(to Willow)
Are you alright?
WILLOW
Yeah, thanks. And also, duck.
GILES
What?
(suddenly gets it)
Oh!
Giles ducks as a blade swooshes over his head. It's being
held by a demon in metal armor. Next to this demon, its twin
also holds a sword.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
Battling a demon nearby. He's got the demon in a choke-hold,
while he looks up and sees Kennedy and her glowing amulet.
XANDER
I thought the Night of Morel Divineh
was supposed to take place at night.
Willow turns and sees the amulet.
WILLOW
How can she...?
ANGLE ON : THE AMULET
Still raised in the air, wrapped around the Scythe. The amulet
shoots a BEAM OF BLACK LIGHT into the sky, and BLACK CLOUDS
form in the sky, blocking most of the sun and giving the
area a strange blue-ish hue.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Looks up at the sky.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
Oh. Nevermind.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Still struggling on the ground.
BUFFY
You have to let me go! You're all
going to die!
37.
One of the Slayers that's holding her down grins at her.
SLAYER
Do you really think you're in a good
place for making threats?
BUFFY
I'm not making a threat, you moron!
I'm telling you!
Buffy closes her eyes, annoyed by this whole thing. She takes
a deep breath and stops struggling.
The Slayers that are holding her down look at each other,
wondering why Buffy has stopped struggling.
Suddenly, Buffy's eyes shoot open. Her face is filled with
determination.
She uses all of her strength to lift her arms off of the
ground, causing two of the Slayers that are pinning her down
to crash into each other.
Once her arms are freed, Buffy punches another one of the
Slayers, and frees her legs. She quickly gets to her feet
and looks around at the Slayers around her.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
You wanna fight me? Then let's fight.
The Slayers attack again, throwing punches and kicks. Buffy
manages to avoid all of their attempts to hit her as she
grabs the arm of one Slayer and throws her into another
Slayer.
She kicks another, causing her to fall back, into another
two Slayers. Buffy smiles.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Maybe if you didn't all spend so
much time whining about your power,
you'd actually know how to use it.
Rhona approaches. She just watches the fight at first, without
an expression on her face. Finally, she speaks.
RHONA
I know.
Buffy looks over and sees Rhona. She doesn't like this.
BUFFY
Rhona, you know me. Listen to me.
38.
RHONA
I know that you like to be the boss
of everyone. You always think you
know better than the rest of us.
(beat)
You did this to us. You cost us our
lives. My family won't even speak to
me anymore.
BUFFY
(still fighting other
Slayers)
And on the more literal side of that
comment, this spell is going to kill
you. It's gonna kill us all if we
don't stop it.
RHONA
You're not in charge anymore, Buffy.
Time to step back and let the rest
of us handle things.
BUFFY
Tell that to the demons that are
attacking the back of your lines.
Rhona looks back. She can't see past the other Slayers, but
something tells her that something isn't right in the back
of the group. She slowly starts to push her way through the
crowd, toward the back.
Buffy continues to fight with the other Slayers. She takes a
lot of hits, but doesn't let them slow her down. She avoids
punches and kicks and- for some odd reason- a flashlight
that's thrown at her. All the while, hitting back at the
girls that are attacking her.
ANGLE ON : CHAO-AHN
Watching Buffy fight. Confused.
CHAO-AHN
(in Chinese)
Okay, now I'm confused. Why are we
fighting Buffy?
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Hacking away at a rather large demon that isn't dying. It
looks at her angrily, with it's big red eyes, and huffs. It
hits her with the back of it's hand, sending her flying
through the air, and onto the ground.
Xander sees her, but is too busy fighting to help her.
XANDER
Willow!
39.
WILLOW
I'm okay.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
In the middle of a sword fight with the twin of Giles' demon.
She looks at Willow's demon.
DAWN
Mahrn demon. Get it's eyes!
Willow stands back up, and picks up her ax. She starts to
walk toward the demon, who is trying to make his way into
the crowd of Slayers. However, before Willow can get to it,
Rhona kicks the demon in the gut, causing him to stumble
back.
Willow sees Rhona, and is a little confused.
WILLOW
Rhona?
RHONA
(calling back to the
Slayers)
We have more bad guys back here!
A couple of the other Slayers see the fight with the demons,
and walk back to help fight them.
Willow watches this, still not sure what to think.
RHONA (CONT'D)
(to Willow)
Ax. Now.
WILLOW
Uh... right.
Willow tosses Rhona the ax.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
Go for the eyes.
And so Rhona attacks the demon's eyes.
Willow stands back, not knowing which direction to go in.
The area is full of very confusing chaos.
And then Willow turns her head toward the school and sees
something.
ANGLE ON : AMY
Making her way through the crowd, and into the school.

ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Watching Amy. She decides which baddie to attack next.
She starts to walk toward the school. When Xander sees this,
he's not sure what to think.
XANDER
Will?
WILLOW
It's okay. Stay here.
Willow makes her way through the crowd, into the school.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
Willow enters the school. As the door closes behind her, the
sounds of the chaos outside become muffled.
Nobody else is around. The hallway is dark. It's a bubble of
calm in an otherwise insanely loud area.
She starts to walk down the hallway, not dropping her guard.
As she passes classrooms, she looks inside, but moves on
when she doesn't see Amy in any of them.
She pauses for a moment, to listen for any odd sounds. When
she doesn't hear any, she continues to walk.
As she moves on, we REVEAL Amy, standing behind her. Amy's
smiling.
AMY
I was hoping you'd come in here.
Willow spins around.
WILLOW
Someone had to keep an eye on you.
Nice trick, bringing Kennedy back
like that. Honestly, I thought it'd
be a little beyond you.
AMY
I've had time to learn.
Amy raises a hand, causing Willow to fly backwards, and slide
across the floor.
AMY (CONT'D)
See what I mean?
FADE TO BLACK:
END OF ACT THREE

ACT FOUR
FADE IN:
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - HALLWAY - DAY
Not long after we left off. Amy takes a few steps toward
Willow.
AMY
And here, you always thought you
were the toughest witch. Always
thought you were so much stronger
than me. Not that you earned any of
it.
Willow stands back up.
AMY (CONT'D)
Look who's more powerful now.
Amy waves her hand again. This time, Willow is slammed into
a group of lockers. She doesn't fall this time.
Once she recovers, she looks back to Amy.
WILLOW
Wow, you are powerful. Still missing
a few pieces of the puzzle when it
comes to sanity though.
AMY
Do you really wanna be pissing me
off right now?
Amy takes a few more steps toward Willow.
AMY (CONT'D)
I hear you're not too tough anymore.
Too bad. You're missing a hell of a
party.
WILLOW
I'm not scared of you.
Amy smiles. A gust of wind blows past her, and she BEGINS TO
LEVITATE.
AMY
You probably should be.
She extends her hand, and a BOLT OF LIGHTNING shoots from
it. Willow dives out of the way as the lightning hits a
display case behind her, causing glass, pictures and trophies
to fall all around Willow.

Amy begins to move toward Willow. Willow looks around for a
weapon and finally picks up one of the trophies. It's a
slightly melted cheerleading trophy that we've all seen
before.
Willow throws it at Amy, but Amy catches it without missing
a beat. She grins and looks at the trophy.
AMY (CONT'D)
Hey, I finally got my hands on a
cheerleading trophy. If only my mother
could see me now.
With a slight chuckle, she tosses the trophy aside and
continues to move toward Willow.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - DAY
Buffy is still fighting with the other Slayers. She punches
one of them, and then throws her into the crowd. As soon as
that Slayer is gone there is another one there to take her
place. They're all over Buffy, throwing punches from every
angle.
Buffy dodges their fists with some painful looking back-
bending and uses every free chance she gets to hit one of
them back. She knows she can't totally stop them, but she
tries to keep as much clear space around herself as possible.
Sensing that this isn't getting her very far, she begins to
look around for another option. She has to get to Kennedy.
ANGLE ON : XANDER, DAWN, GILE AND JENNA
Still battling demons. Dawn is now holding onto a sword in
each hand, having picked up the sword of the demon that she
was battling before. She is using them to attack a fur-covered
demon that keeps snapping at her.
Giles is fighting hand-to-hand with a demon which has insect
type qualities to it. He avoids a swipe by this demon, and
manages to grab it around the head. With a twist, the head
pops off in his hands. He looks at it for a moment, and then
drops it.
Xander is on the ground. On top of him, a black and gray
alien looking demon has it's mouth open, and is trying to
get closer to him. Xander is barely managing to hold it back.
Dawn looks back and sees Xander's situation. Her eyes widen.
DAWN
Xander! That's a soul sucker! Don't
let it get too close.
XANDER
Really trying not to.

Giles grabs the soul sucker off of Xander and stabs it. The
demon dies and falls on top of Xander.
Xander pushes the demon off, and gets up.
XANDER (CONT'D)
(to Giles)
Thanks.
Giles looks back at the crowd of Slayers. The demons are
pushing their way in by now. The area is filled with Slayers
fighting demons.
The bright side to this is, it gives Giles a chance to think.
Xander takes a look back at the big battle that's going on.
As he looks, he sees something.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Is that Ethan Rayne?
Giles immediately looks over to where Xander is looking. His
face fills with anger.
GILES
Stay here. Help the girls.
And with that, Giles starts to force his way through the
crowd.
Xander remains behind, taking a look at the demons around
him.
XANDER
People keep leaving. Why do people
keep leaving?
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
Still at the top of the stairs, holding the Scythe into the
air.
KENNEDY
(in demon language)
Umprute ela miku en. Senoiah avinoke
comreesh!
(translation)
Vessel of the chosen power, I command
you. Open your gates and release
that which I seek!
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
In the middle of swinging a Slayer around and throwing her
into the crowd. Once she does this, more Slayers attack her.
44.
Buffy exchanges punches at an almost impossible speed, doing
her best to avoid the punches that are being thrown at her.
Out of nowhere, a RED HAIRED SLAYER dives onto Buffy, taking
her down, into the fountain.
Buffy and this other Slayer struggle as they both try to
gain the upper hand in the water. The red haired Slayer
attempts to hold Buffy under the water, but Buffy quickly
kicks the girl off of her, sending this Slayer flying
backwards.
Buffy gets to her feet and stands on the edge of the fountain
and more Slayers attack her. Some try to pull her feet out
from under her, but she avoids them, or kicks them away.
Others climb onto the fountain with her, forcing her to
exchange hits again.
As she battles one of the Slayers, another one comes from
behind and hits her in the back of the head. Buffy loses her
balance and falls off of the fountain, landing on the ground,
and at the feet of many more Slayers.
Before she can get up, they begin to kick her and punch at
her. She is once again unable to get back to her feet.
She tries to block these hits, but there are too many of
them.
Kick after kick. Punch after punch. Buffy is bleeding from
several spots on her face by this point. She curls into a
fetal position, but the hitting doesn't stop.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
KENNEDY (CONT'D)
(still speaking
demonese)
Umpruto selesta congragor.
(translation)
Come to me. Make me your home.
ANGLE ON : THE SKY
Still filled with dark clouds. A BLACK VORTEX begins to form
above the school.
ANGLE ON : XANDER AND DAWN
Fighting one big demon together. Dawn has given Xander one
of her swords and both of them are trying to hack away at
the demon, but they can't seem to cut through it's thick
skin.
XANDER
What is this thing?

DAWN
Contegra demon.
(whacks at the demon
again)
Once we get through the skin, it's
just a matter of getting it's heart.
The demon hits at Xander, causing Xander to stumble backwards.
The demon swipes at Dawn, but she avoids it and keeps on
attacking.
JENNA (O.S.)
Dawn!
(beat)
What is this thing?
Dawn doesn't look back. She's busy avoiding the demon's
swipes.
DAWN
Hold on a sec.
JENNA (O.S.)
(beat)
Seriously... It won't die!
DAWN
Okay. It's a...
Dawn now looks back, as she just gets a chance.
DAWN (CONT'D)
It's a--
When she looks back to tell Jenna what she's fighting, she
gets a puzzled look on her face.
DAWN (CONT'D)
Clem?
ANGLE ON : JENNA
Stabbing the hell out of CLEM, who isn't feeling a thing.
He looks over at Dawn and waves.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
DAWN (CONT'D)
What are you--?
Before she can finish, the demon she's fighting grabs her.
She drops her sword and begins to struggle.
Xander comes back into the picture, stabbing at the demon
with his sword. He stabs several times, with little damage
done to the demon.

ANGLE ON : LYLE GORCH
Walking up to the battle with SEVERAL OTHER COWBOY STYLE
VAMPS. When he gets there, he smiles and VAMPS OUT.
LYLE
Well now. Looks like we got here
just in time.
He jumps into the battle, taking on a Slayer, and loving
every moment of it.
INT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - SCIENCE LAB - DAY
Willow rushes into the room, and slams the door behind her.
She watches the door as she makes her way to the back of the
room. She knows that Amy will be there at any moment.
As she gets to the back of the room, she finds herself in
the corner, not knowing what to do next.
ANGLE ON : THE DOOR
Silence. It doesn't open. There's nobody there.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Still watching the door. She's breathing heavy.
ANGLE ON : THE DOOR
Still nothing... Until it blows off it's hinges and flies
across the room. AMY FLOATS into the room, only a few inches
off of the ground, with a cool wind blowing her hair and
clothes around. Her eyes are black.
AMY
Way to back yourself into a corner.
What's your next trick? Scream really
loud and hope I go away?
(beat)
Oh, wait. That's right. You don't
have any more tricks, do you?
Amy's HANDS CRACKLE WITH ELECTRICITY as she slowly raises
one of them.
AMY (CONT'D)
I'm the one with the power now.
Amy SHOOTS A BOLT OF LIGHTNING at Willow. Willow dives out
of the way just in time. The bolt hits the wall behind her,
and pieces of debris fall to the ground near her.
AMY (CONT'D)
You're nothing.
(MORE)

AMY (CONT'D)
Just the same old, weak nerd that
couldn't pay anyone to look her way
back in high school.
Willow sits up, but stays on the ground. She looks at Amy,
who is in the front of the room.
WILLOW
You weren't exactly popular either.
AMY
Hey, I wasn't the one who hung around
the cool crowd, just to seem more
popular. "I'm dating the guitarist",
"My best friend saved the world",
"I'm secretly in love with the most
popular girl in school's boyfriend,
even though I'm supposed to be gay
but don't know it yet."
(beat)
My goodness, if you clung on any
more, they'd officially make you a
leech.
WILLOW
You don't know anything about me.
AMY
Please. You're an open bookworm. You
want to be the coolest, most loved,
most powerful person in the world,
but you don't want to work for it.
(beat)
Funny part is, it worked! You didn't
earn anything you have. You didn't
earn the magic that you used. The
rest of us work our entire lives,
and it doesn't get us anything but a
stake to burn at, and the ability to
turn ourselves into rats.
Amy lowers to the ground, and takes a few steps toward Willow.
AMY (CONT'D)
Oh, but I finally got the hint. I
finally caught onto how this game is
played. It's not about earning it,
or learning how to use it. It's not
about the power that you're supposed
to inherit in your blood. It's about
taking what you want. It's all about
cutting corners. Once you learn that
little piece of information, it's
all easy street from there, isn't
it?

Amy stops and looks at her hand, still crackling with power.
AMY (CONT'D)
Now you're the underdog, and I'm the--
WILLOW
--Really insane, mental person with
more issues than I have fingers to
count them on? Yup, that's what I
was thinking too.
Willow stands up.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
I mean, I've heard of holding onto
things, but jeez! How many years
have you had to get over it? Look at
you, still whining about a mother
you haven't seen since your second
year of high school.
Amy doesn't like this. She raises her crackling hand.
AMY
I'd shut my mouth if I were you.
Willow smiles. She could quite possibly get her ass kicked
right now, but she doesn't care. She leans on a nearby
counter, which has a metal tray on it.
WILLOW
You think I'm the same person that I
was in high school?
AMY
Shut up!
Amy shoots a STREAM OF ENERGY at Willow. Willow quickly grabs
the metal tray and holds it in front of herself.
The energy hits the tray, and bounces off if it. It hits the
ceiling, which causes a lot of debris to fall around Amy,
but Amy looks up and STOPS THE DEBRIS before it hits her. It
harmlessly falls around her.
Meanwhile, the jolt sends Willow flying back into the wall,
and she falls to the ground.
She looks back to Amy, feeling the pain.
AMY (CONT'D)
Clever. How 'bout we try it one more
time?
Amy motions toward Willow again, sending a BALL OF ENERGY
toward Willow. Willow quickly moves out of the way just in
time.

She starts to crawl on the floor, between lab counters, trying
to get away.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
WILLOW
(to self)
Okay, think. You can get out of this.
Another BLAST hits near Willow, causing papers to fall around
her. She stops to think.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
(still to self)
She's using a-- a Drolian impact
spell. Pulling energy from the air.
(beat)
It's all just a balance of the
elements. That's science-y. I know
science. I just need to think.
ANOTHER BLAST rocks the counter that Willow's crawling near.
She starts crawling again.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
Think while moving.
AMY (O.S.)
You can crawl, but you can't hide.
ANGLE ON : AMY
Moving around the room, looking around the counters for
Willow.
AMY (CONT'D)
How 'bout some light?
Without so much as a word from Amy, the bunsen burners ignite
with tall flames. The room fills with their glow.
AMY (CONT'D)
Better.
Amy turns toward the counter that Willow is hiding behind,
just as Willow scurries to another part of the room.
AMY (CONT'D)
This is getting old pretty fast.
(beat)
How 'bout I show you another trick I
picked up?
Amy stops walking and turns toward the front of the room
(now standing somewhere in the center of the room). She looks
up, and spreads her arms.

From around the room, TINY BLACK BALLS begin to form, and
circle around Amy.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
She's under one of the counters, and is watching some jars
on a nearby shelf. Several of these jars are marked "SULPHUR",
and their contents are being pulled through the glass, and
forming the balls that are circling Amy.
Willow watches this, confused.
AMY (CONT'D)
Colletus, I summon you. Elemen, I
envoke your power. Come forth to
this place, and serve my wishes.
(beat)
Cepa. The stones of Hell.
Willow listens to this spell carefully, trying to remember
what it is.
WILLOW
(to self)
Think. Colletus. Elemen. Cepa. I
know these.
ANGLE ON : AMY
The black balls that are swirling around her are pulled into
one big ball directly in front of her. The BALLS TURNS INTO
A SEMI-CLEAR, AMBER BUBBLE that soon grows, and forms around
Amy. Once this happens, Amy continues. She brings her hands
to her front, as though cupping water in them.
AMY
Lucht. The breath of life.
The amber sphere begins to spin around her, causing a STRONG
WIND to blow around her. This wind is finally drawn into a
WHITE BUBBLE in her hands. She looks down at this.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Still thinking.
WILLOW
The breath of life.
Suddenly, Willow's eyes widen as she realizes what's
happening.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
(whispered)
L'eau.
(MORE)

WILLOW (CONT'D)
(beat)
Not good. Really not good. I like me
being human. I don't want to be dirt.
She starts to look around the room, trying to find something
very specific.
ANGLE ON : AMY
Continuing the spell.
AMY
L'eau. The tear of the spirit.
Amy separates her hands, and again spreads her arms. As she
does this, A RIPPLING WATER BALL is pulled from the white
bubble. She now holds the white bubble in her right hand,
and the water ball in the left.
This is taking a lot of her strength, but she continues.
AMY (CONT'D)
Fuego. The eternal light.
From the water ball, a FIRE BALL is formed in front of Amy.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
Still scurrying to find something on the shelves of science
supplies.
WILLOW
C'mon, where are you?
Willow finally finds what she's looking for. She picks up
another jar, marked "ZINC" and lets out a sigh of relief.
AMY (O.S.)
Of these powers, I summon the fourth.
Bestow this force upon mine enemy.
Willow unscrews the top of the jar, and then stands up.
Amy looks over at Willow as all three of the balls in front
of her BEGIN TO GLOW BRIGHTER, gathering their energies.
Willow looks at Amy with resolve in her eyes.
WILLOW
You're right. I am the same geek I
was back in high school.
With that, Willow throws the jar of zinc at Amy.
As the jar hits the amber bubble around Amy, the AMBER BUBBLE
DESTABLIZES and collapses.
52.
As it does, it reacts with the fire ball, and a MASSIVE GREEN
EXPLOSION sends Amy flying into the wall, taking out a large
chunk of it as she falls to the ground.
Willow waits for a moment as silence fills the room. Slowly,
she begins to make her way toward where Amy fell.
When she reaches Amy and looks down, her face fills with
disgust.
ANGLE ON : AMY
Eyes and mouth wide open, making it look like she is really
surprised. She's very dead looking.
Willow gently taps Amy with her foot. As she does this, Amy's
EYES GO HOLLOW, caving into her head, and her head falls to
one side. When it falls, DIRT POURS FROM HER MOUTH, leaving
only an empty shell of Amy remaining, while her insides have
been turned to dirt.
Willow cringes.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - DAY
The demons are now in a full-on battle with the rest of the
Slayers. There are more demons than can be counted, fighting
more Slayers than can be counted.
In the middle of all this mess, Buffy is off the ground,
being carried by her arms and legs by a few Slayers, each
seeming to pull in a different direction.
Buffy's eyes are closed and she isn't moving. It looks like
a very uncomfortable situation to be in.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
Being punched repeatedly by a large, black, slimy demon. His
face is bloody, and his blue eye is starting to swell.
ANGLE ON : JENNA AND DAWN
Each battling their own demons. Dawn is knocked to the ground
and is about to be stomped on by her demon, but she manages
to roll out of the way just in time.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - FRONT LAWN - DAY
Ethan is making his way across the front lawn, skipping out
on the battle.
GILES (O.S.)
Making another one of your last minute
escapes, Ethan?
53.
Ethan stops and turns around. REVEAL GILES standing beind
him.
Ethan smiles at Giles.
ETHAN
Hello, Ripper. Come to stop me?
GILES
Actually, yes.
ETHAN
Right. What then? A punch to the
face? Send me back to prison?
GILES
That's not enough. You've gone too
far this time.
ETHAN
Oh, come on. You have to admit, it
worked out rather well, mathamatically
speaking. A battle for everyone in
your little circle.
(beat)
We even had another boy helping us
gather Slayers until last week. He'd
have been the perfect sparring partner
for that boy of yours if one of the
less sane Slayers hadn't killed him
first.
GILES
You're still enjoying this?
ETHAN
I have to say, it's been fun. What's
it that they're always saying?
"Revenge is sweet"? I spent years,
locked in a cage because of you and
your girl. I think it's about time I
repaid the favor.
GILES
By killing her? By killing all of
the Slayers? By helping to destroy
the world?
Giles takes a step toward Ethan with one of his Ripper-y
expressions on his face.
GILES (CONT'D)
You've crossed a line this time. I
can't let you get away with it.
54.
ETHAN
So, what? You kill me? Isn't there a
rule against the good guys killing
humans?
GILES
I'll do what I have to.
Giles gets closer to Ethan and is about to grab him. As soon
as he gets close to Ethan, Giles' face goes blank. After a
moment, he looks down.
REVEAL Ethan's hand, holding a small pen-knife. It's sticking
into Giles' stomach.
ETHAN
You do what you have to. I do what I
have to.
Ethan pulls the knife out.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
You didn't think I wouldn't be
prepared for you, did you, old mate?
Giles drops to his knees as the blood starts to soak his
shirt.
ETHAN (CONT'D)
Really must be going now. Good luck
with saving the world.
Ethan turns and starts to walk away.
Giles looks down at his wound, still taking in the shock of
being stabbed. After a beat, he looks back to Ethan with a
look that tells us that this fight isn't over.
CLOSE ON : ETHAN
As he walks away with a slight grin on his face.
EXT. SUNNYDALE HIGH - COURTYARD - DAY
Kennedy is still at the top of the stairs, holding the Scythe
in the air. She looks into the sky.
THUNDER ROARS again. Wind begins to gust.
KENNEDY
I call upon the power of the Slayer!
Let it reside in me! Essance of Morel
Divineh, bring forth your might!
55.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
As Buffy is being pulled in different directions, she begins
to wake up. Her eyes open, and she takes in the sight of
the world around her.
BUFFY'S POV
The Slayers battling against the demons. Total chaos.
PAN UP to Kennedy, performing the ritual.
Buffy is once again struck with the severity of the situation.
She begins to struggle, but she can't get free. It seems
like the more she tries to pull free, the more trapped she
becomes.
BUFFY
Let me go! You have to let me stop
this!
The Slayers don't listen.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
She's going to kill all of us! Why
won't you listen to me?
Buffy struggles more, but still can't break loose. As she
fights, she looks up at the second level of the courtyard.
BUFFY'S POV
On the upper level, looking down on her is THE FIRST, in the
form of Buffy herself. The First watches what's happening
without any expression on it's face.
When Buffy sees this, she stops struggling for a moment. The
world around her suddenly GOES SILENT as Buffy and the First
lock eyes. It's only for a moment, but it seems like eternity.
After that moment, the NOISE RETURNS, and Buffy snaps back
to reality as a demon tackles one of the Slayers that is
holding Buffy's legs. When the girl goes down, Buffy's feet
drop to the ground.
Buffy takes this chance, and flips backwards, pulling free
from the two Slayers that are holding her arms. Once free
from them, she spin-kicks another Slayer that is trying to
attack her.
Buffy looks up to the sky, and sees the black vortex that
has formed. She then looks to the top of the stairs and
sees Kennedy, still performing the spell.
She quickly looks around the rest of the area, trying to
form a plan. There are too many Slayers and demons between
herself and the stairs, making that path an impossible one.
56.
Finally, she spots another option. She rushes forward and
jumps into the air. She then kicks off of a demon, onto the
shoulder of another Slayer, and then manages to grab onto
the ledge of the upper level.
With a quick swing and a flip, she leaps onto the upper level
and finds herself face to face with more Slayers, ready to
fight her.
She stares the first one down.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
You don't have to fight me. Just let
me through.
The Slayer doesn't respond. She simply attacks Buffy. Buffy
effortlessly punches the girl and tosses her over the ledge,
onto a demon below.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Why can't they ever just pick the
easy option?
Buffy charges toward the other Slayers in her path, ready to
take them on.
ANGLE ON : XANDER, DAWN, AND JENNA
Still fighting demons, along with the other Slayers.
Dawn knees her demon in the groin. Once it doubles over, she
punches it in the face. She swings her sword around, and
stabs the demon through the back. It drops.
Jenna back-hands her demon in the face, then spins around
with a kick. The demon drops to the ground, but grabs onto
her leg. She struggles to pull free.
As Xander decapitates his current demon enemy, he looks for
his next target. Then he spots something.
XANDER'S POV
The demons in the area clear a path for this particular demon
as he makes his way through the battle. It is D'HOFFRYN, and
he has set his sights on Xander.
Xander watches D'Hoffryn walking toward him, but he's not
scared. The look in Xander's eyes says "bring it on."
ANGLE ON : BUFFY.
She grabs a Slayer and throws her into another two Slayers,
sending them all to the floor. Buffy then catches the arm of
another Slayer that is attempting to punch her in the face,
and flips this Slayer to the floor.
57.
Buffy is getting close to Kennedy by this point.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
Still as we saw her before.
KENNEDY
(demon speak)
Durah, essente mogratos. Vortun les
intagra. Shor trun! Olte mosenna!
Shor trun!
(translation)
Weapon of the Slayer, channel the
energy. Unlock the source and bring
it forth! Endow me with the heart of
the source. Bring it forth!
ANGLE ON : WILLOW
As she makes her way out of the school, the sight of the
battle in the courtyard hits her. She doesn't know where to
go, or what to do next.
She looks to one side and sees Giles stumbling back into the
courtyard, holding onto his bloody stomach. She rushes toward
him.
WILLOW
Giles!
She gets to him and starts to look him over.
WILLOW (CONT'D)
Giles, are you okay?
Giles doesn't respond to her. He's looking up at Kennedy.
GILES
Oh, God. She's too late.
Willow looks back to Kennedy. As she does, her face goes
blank.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
The amulet SURGES WITH POWER. Kennedy's hair and clothes
blow violently, due to a wind that affects nobody else in
the area. Kennedy is no longer speaking, or performing a
ritual. She is now just waiting, with the Scythe still held
over her head.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
She sees Kennedy. She knows that this is not a good thing.
58.
BUFFY
(to self)
No.
The power inside of Buffy begins to surge.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
No!
Buffy grabs onto one of the few remaining Slayers in her
path and throws her back into another one.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Kennedy, stop this!
She's fighting as hard as she can to get to Kennedy. Only
two more Slayers in her path now.
ANGLE ON : THE SKY
The black vortex begins to FLASH WITH LIGHTNING.
A bolt of this lightning strikes the amulet, sending a surge
that jolts Kennedy. Still, she remains standing.
Kennedy looks over the crowd of Slayers, and the demons
they're fighting. She smiles.
KENNEDY
It's time.
ANOTHER LIGHTNING BOLT strikes the amulet.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
She throws the last remaining Slayer over the side of the
railing, and rushes toward Kennedy.
BUFFY
(screaming)
Stop!
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
She closes her eyes.
In one last-ditch effort to stop the spell, and without even
thinking about it, Buffy rushes up to Kennedy, and rams into
her with all of the force that she can muster, grabbing the
Scythe from Kennedy's hand.
Kennedy falls to the ground and looks back to Buffy, wanting
to scream "No!".
Before Kennedy can say anything, however, A VERY LOUD THUNDER
ROARS, and ECHOES through the courtyard.
59.
Kennedy's face is thrust upward, toward the sky, and HER
EYES BEGIN TO GLOW.
Buffy watches this happen, and a realization comes over her.
She looks down at the Scythe, realizing what is about to
happen. Before she can do anything about it, Buffy is struck
by a sudden surge, causing her face to be thrust toward the
sky as well.
At the same time, the Scythe pulls her arm into the air,
much like Kennedy was holding it.
ANGLE ON : THE COURTYARD
The fighting stops cold as every Slayer freezes, and looks
upward. THEIR EYES BEGIN TO GLOW, and LIGHT SHOOTS FROM THEIR
MOUTHS, into the sky.
The demons stand back when they see this. A sudden calmness
fills the courtyard as the Slayers are paralyzed by this
energy, and everyone else stops to watch them.
ANGLE ON : WILLOW AND GILES
Watching this happen with wide eyes. They are in utter shock.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
Her eyes fill with tears as she sees what's happening.
ANGLE ON : THE COURTYARD
As the energy from the Slayers continues to shoot into the
air. Suddenly, THE ENERGY STOPS. For a moment, the girls
remain standing with their eyes and mouths still wide, and
pointed toward the sky.
And then, one by one, they begin to fall to the ground, dead.
ANGLE ON : KENNEDY
As she slumps over, also dead.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Still standing, Scythe above her head, looking toward the
sky.
ANGLE ON : THE SKY
And the black vortex. There are many streams of energy
shooting into the vortex from all directions. Finally, the
energy stops.
After a moment, the vortex forms into a TORNADO-LIKE FUNNEL,
which lowers into the Sunnydale High area.
60.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
As the tip of this funnel strikes her. BLACK ENERGY SWIRLS
AROUND HER as though she were in the center of a tornado.
She screams as this hits her.
BALLS OF LIGHT shoot through the funnel, into Buffy. Each
time she is struck by one, it hits her like a bolt of
lightning. As this all happens, BUFFY'S WOUNDS BEGIN TO HEAL.
Finally, the FUNNEL DISSIPATES. Buffy is left, holding the
Scythe. She looks down at the ground, breathing heavily.
She no longer has any signs of battle showing on her body.
Slowly, she looks to the lower level of the courtyard, at
all of the dead Slayers.
ANGLE ON : THE DEAD SLAYERS
Laying all over the place. Demons still standing over them,
only just starting to snap back into their usual grumpy
selves.
Some demons just walk off, while other stay to cause more
trouble. Whatever these demons are deciding to do, it doesn't
change the fact that there are still tons of them, packed
into the courtyard.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
Looking at all of the dead Slayers, in shock.
She looks over, and sees Jenna, laying on the ground, dead.
Dawn rushes to her, and kneels by her, crying.
DAWN
Jenna!
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
As she looks over the dead Slayers, her eyes finally reach
something else.
ANGLE ON : XANDER
Being held up, by the throat, by D'Hoffryn.
D'HOFFRYN
For you, I lost two of my brightest
stars. Now, you will suffer the same
fate.
Xander is struggling to get free, but can't. He also can't
breathe. Soon, his eyes begin to close.
61.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
As she looks to the bottom of the stairs.
There are dozens of demons between her and Xander, all wanting
to kill her.
She looks at them coolly.
ANGLE ON : D'HOFFRYN
Still holding Xander up.
Suddenly, a hand grabs D'Hoffryn's neck from behind, and
squeezes. D'Hoffryn's head is torn from his body, and both
parts drop to the ground, releasing Xander.
As D'Hoffryn falls to the ground, we see Buffy standing behind
him with the same cool look on her face.
Behind her every demon that stood in her way lies dead on
the ground. There is a MIST OF BLOOD still hovering in the
air from all of this sudden carnage that just ripped through
the area. Buffy, however, is perfectly clean and without a
scratch on her.
All of the other demons are running like hell.
Once Xander is safely on his feet, gasping for air, Buffy
turns to look at the dead girls on the ground of the
courtyard.
Willow and Giles soon join Buffy and Xander. All of them
looking at the dead Slayers, in shock.
Buffy looks to where Dawn is still kneeling over Jenna's
body, and walks over to her.
REVEAL The First, in the form of JESSE, standing next to
Buffy, smiling.
THE FIRST/JESSE
Y'know, my job is kinda like watching
TV. Just press the right buttons,
and then sit back and watch the show.
Buffy doesn't react to the First at all. She goes to Jenna
and kneels down beside her, placing the Scythe on the ground
next to her.
After a beat, Buffy sees the Isabelle Acker cross around
Jenna's neck. She leans over and takes it.
Dawn looks over to Buffy and quickly grabs her hand.
DAWN
Buffy?

Buffy looks down at Dawn, but doesn't say anything. After a
second, Buffy stands up, picking up the Scythe as she does.
Dawn has a confused look on her face as she also stands up.
THE FIRST/JESSE
Doesn't really matter who got the
power. You realize that, right? I
still win. You lose.
Still, Buffy doesn't react to the First.
Willow, Xander and Giles stand near Buffy and Dawn. Willow
looks to Buffy.
WILLOW
What happens now? What do we do?
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Buffy contemplates that question as she looks down at the
cross in her hand.
GILES (O.S.)
There's nothing we can do. Buffy's
it. The last.
XANDER (O.S.)
What does this mean?
Buffy then puts the cross around her neck and turns away
from her friends.
BUFFY
It means, I don't rest until every
demon on the face of this planet is
dead.
Buffy starts to walk away, out of the courtyard, leaving her
friends behind.
DAWN
Buffy, wait.
But Buffy doesn't stop. She just keeps walking away.
PULL BACK to a wide shot, showing all of the dead girls, and
Buffy's friends as she walks away from them.
DAWN (CONT'D)
Buffy?
MALE REPORTER (V.O.)
The world remains in a state of shock
today, as tens of thousands of women
suddenly die of unknown causes.
(MORE)

Though rumors of bio-terrorism
surround this mysterious event,
government officials deny any evidence
of such an attack. Studies are
currently underway to discover the
cause of these deaths, however no
leads have been discovered as of
yet.
(beat)
Though deaths occurred in every part
of the world, the town of Sunnydale,
California saw what could be the
largest number of casualties in one
location. The town, which was
recently reconstructed after a massive
sink-hole swallowed it's buildings
last summer, was the scene of nearly
three hundred deaths...
The NEWS REPORT FADES OUT.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
As she watches Buffy go. She is still confused and her eyes
are filled with tears.
After a moment, she looks down at her hand.
ANGLE ON : DAWN'S HAND
As she opens her hand, she finds that she is holding the
locket that Hank gave to Buffy on her birthday.
ANGLE ON : DAWN
As a tear rolls down her cheek.
ANGLE ON : BUFFY
Walking away from the school, alone. Expressionless. She's
on a mission, and will not rest until that mission is
complete.
