This deleted scene was excluded from page 22 of the script, after Buffy and Xander are on patrol, 
but before we see them back at the house.

It was removed to save time... not that the rest of my scripts didn't run over.

 
                 

               THE TROUBLE WITH HAH'REE 

               INT. JACK'S BAIT-N-BREAKFAST - DAY

               The place is packed with HALLOWEEN PARTIERS (young and old). 
               They're all dressed up. Mostly as Harry Potter.  MUSIC plays 
               in the background.

               Ryan is dressed as Ozzy Osbourne. He makes his way across 
               the room, carrying two drinks. Finally, he stops at a table 
               where KIRSTY (no costume) is sitting, and gives her a drink.

                                     RYAN
                         Here.

                                     KIRSTY
                         Thanks.

               Kirsty takes a sip as she looks around at the people.

                                     KIRSTY (CONT'D)
                         Why do grown woman and men feel the 
                         need to dress up like children?

                                     RYAN
                         Because it's fun?

                                     KIRSTY
                         I don't see it.

                                     RYAN
                         You need to lighten up a little.

                                     KIRSTY
                         I'm light enough, I just don't get 
                         this particular celebration. Most of 
                         these people probably don't even 
                         know what the holiday is about.

                                     RYAN
                         Please don't lecture me. I'll pay 
                         you money not to lecture me.

                                     KIRSTY
                         Fine.

               She takes another sip of her drink.

                                     KIRSTY (CONT'D)
                         Just one more question. Why do they 
                         think that putting cinnamon and nutmeg 
                         in the fruit punch will make it 
                         better? Why would they think that?

                                     RYAN
                         Because it's Halloween.
                                     (MORE)

                                     RYAN (CONT'D)
                         Time to ring in the cinnamon and 
                         nutmeg time of year.

               Ryan looks up toward the door and smiles.

                                     RYAN (CONT'D)
                         Dawn's here.

               ANGLE ON : THE DOOR

               Dawn leads the way in, with Willow following. Both are dressed 
               up in their costumes. Willow as Harry Potter and Dawn as 
               Hermoine. They look around the room.

                                     WILLOW
                         So much for originality.

                                     DAWN
                         Well... If it helps any, I think you 
                         look way better than any of the other 
                         Harry Potters.

                                     WILLOW
                         So, do you see any demons?

               Dawn looks around and then looks back to Willow with a pained 
               expression.

                                     DAWN
                         It's Halloween. I see a ton of monster 
                         costumes all over the place.
                              (then)
                         Or, what I really hope are monster 
                         costumes.

                                     WILLOW
                         Just keep an eye our for anything 
                         that looks really demonic.

                                     RYAN (O.S.)
                         Really demonic?

               Willow and Dawn turns and see that Ryan has walked over to 
               them. They smile.

                                     WILLOW
                         Not really demonic. Just...

               Willow doesn't know how to finish.

                                     DAWN
                         She's a Halloween junky. She loves 
                         her Ouija boards and black candles.

                                     WILLOW
                         Especially the licorice scented ones.
                              (beat)
                         Candles. Not Ouija boards.

               She has no clue why she just said that.

                                     WILLOW (CONT'D)
                         I'll be over there.

               Willow walks off, not wanting to sound any stupider than she 
               already has.

               Ryan steps closer to Dawn, so they can talk.

                                     RYAN
                         You're friends a little strange.

                                     DAWN
                         Sugar rush. Anything that you see 
                         around me that seems a little strange 
                         is probably just a sugar rush.

                                     RYAN
                         Okay.
                              (beat)
                         So, I like your costume.

                                     DAWN
                         Thanks. I like yours too. It's very... 
                         grungy.

                                     RYAN
                         Thanks. Did you see their season 
                         finale?

                                     DAWN
                         Who's?

                                     RYAN
                         The Osbournes.

                                     DAWN
                         Oh! You're Ozzy! Sorry, I don't really 
                         watch that show. I haven't seen much 
                         Mtv since I grew out of the whole 
                         boy band thing.

                                     RYAN
                         Oh. You liked boy bands?

                                     DAWN
                         I was a little insane when I was a 
                         kid.

               Ryan chuckles.

                                     RYAN
                         Anyway, I'm an Mtv fan. I love the 
                         shows they have on there. Have you 
                         ever seen Tom Green?

                                     DAWN
                         Once, for a couple seconds. Not really 
                         my thing.

                                     RYAN
                         Oh.

               Ryan doesn't know what else to talk about. He looks around, 
               trying to find a new topic.

                                     RYAN (CONT'D)
                         So, you want some spiced fruit punch?

                                     DAWN
                         Spiked?

                                     RYAN
                         Not spiked. Spiced.

               ANGLE ON : WILLOW

               Near the punch, taking a sip from her own cup. She's looking 
               around at everyone in the room, keeping an eye out for the 
               demon. She really has nothing to do, which makes her feel 
               very out of place.

               Another Harry Potter passes her. They smile a hello at each 
               other as he passes.

               As she continues to look around, she sees Kirsty sitting 
               alone at a table, watching the people in the room. She looks 
               more out of place than Willow feels.

               MRS. GIMLY, dressed as Glinda the good witch, makes her way 
               to the front of the room where a microphone is waiting. She 
               blows in the microphone a couple of times to make sure it's 
               on.

                                     MRS. GIMLY
                         Testing.

               She backs away a little when she hears how loud her voice 
               is, then softly speaks into the microphone again.

                                     MRS. GIMLY (CONT'D)
                         Hello, everyone. Welcome to our annual 
                         Halloween celebration.

               A couple of people in the crowd CLAP until they realize that 
               nobody else is, and then they stop.
