EXT. DAWN'S HOUSE -- DAY
A cloudy, rainy day. We slowly PUSH IN on the house as we
hear...
DAWN (V.O.)
Three weeks. Three weeks since it
happened. Since I was left on my
own. Forced to face the world alone.
INT. DAWN'S KITCHEN -- DAY
Empty. Dirty dishes on the counters.
CLOSE ON : THE SINK
The faucet drips.
DAWN (V.O.)
Life changes. It throws you a curve.
It totally shifts directions. Time
after time.
INT. DAWN'S FOYER -- DAY
Again, empty. We PUSH IN on the stairs.
DAWN (V.O.)
And it never slows down to let you
catch up. It tosses you and spins
you until you want to be sick, but
it never slows down.
INT. DAWN'S UPSTAIRS HALL -- DAY
DAWN stands at the far end of the hall. We SLOWLY PUSH IN on
her.
DAWN (V.O.)
I've lost my entire family. My mother,
and my sister both within six months.
It hurts. Like a knife in my stomach.
I can't breath. Can't sleep. Can't
eat without them running through my
thoughts.
We can see now that Dawn is looking into Buffy's room. A
room which is just as Buffy left it. Dawn hasn't stepped a
foot inside. We MOVE AROUND HER, slowly showing her face.

DAWN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
And even with them both gone...
And we now finally see BUFFY and JOYCE standing behind Dawn.
Watching her.
DAWN (V.O.) (CONT'D)
... I can still feel them with me.

ACT ONE
FADE IN:
INT. BUFFY'S ROOM -- DAY
Dawn is packing away some of Buffy's things. Clearing off
the desk and putting the things in boxes. She works alone.
Silent. Not seeing Buffy and Joyce who are watching from the
doorway.
Joyce seems to know what's going on. Buffy is a bit confused.
BUFFY
(to Dawn)
Dawn. What are you doing?
Dawn, of course, can't hear her. Buffy walks to Dawn and
stands right in front of her.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Dawn!
JOYCE
She can't hear you.
Buffy looks up and sees Joyce.
BUFFY
Mom?
She goes to her mother and hugs her.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
But you're dead.
Buffy stops herself, realizing what's going on.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
I guess there's a lot of that going
around.
(beat)
Why am I here? Shouldn't there be
big gates or a sign that says "Heaven,
Next Exit"? Is there a Heaven?
Joyce smiles at her daughter.
JOYCE
Yes. There is and you'll get there
soon enough. Think of this as your
chance to say goodbye.
BUFFY
Goodbye?

JOYCE
To your friends, dear. This is your
chance to watch them get on with
life. So you can rest and not worry.
BUFFY
So I won't be able to see them after
this? Ever?
JOYCE
Not unless one of them dies and you
become a host.
BUFFY
A host?
JOYCE
A person who has been through this
and knows what it's all for.
BUFFY
So you...?
Joyce nods.
JOYCE
I was watching from my funeral up
until I suddenly found myself walking
up the street with a strange limp
and a kind of... I guess it was a
bark-- it doesn't matter. Nevermind.
BUFFY
Funeral. How long has it been?
JOYCE
You died a little over three weeks
ago.
BUFFY
It's been so long. Who came to the
funeral? Do you know?
JOYCE
Sorry. I didn't see.
BUFFY
Oh.
Buffy looks back to Dawn, who is still working.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
So what do I do? Just watch?
JOYCE
That's the idea.

BUFFY
Do we get popcorn? Cause now that
I'm dead, I'm thinking I can leave
the diet with the heartbeat.
JOYCE
We don't eat.
BUFFY
You did I say I was going to Heaven,
right?
WILLOW (O.S.)
(calling from
downstairs)
Dawn?
Dawn stops working and looks back at the door.
DAWN
Up here!
A few moments, then WILLOW joins Dawn. She looks around the
room and is confused.
WILLOW
Whatcha doin'?
DAWN
I thought I'd pack some of Buffy's
things away and let Tara sleep in
here. The couch is giving her neck
pain.
WILLOW
Oh. Well, do you want help?
DAWN
Pull up a box.
Dawn hands her a box and they go to the closet. Dawn pulls
out a shirt of Buffy's. She stops and looks at it.
DAWN (CONT'D)
I haven't cried yet today. Suddenly
this has me tearing up.
WILLOW
I remember when she got that one. We
got it together.
DAWN
It smells like her.
BUFFY
That's a good shirt.
(MORE)

BUFFY (CONT'D)
Got it discount, but it was worth
full price. It was perfect with my
blue pants with the little sparklie
things.
Dawn holds the shirt out to Willow.
DAWN
You should have it.
WILLOW
What?
BUFFY
No. My shirt. Not her shirt. Mine.
DAWN
You should have it. She'd want you
too.
BUFFY
No she wouldn't.
WILLOW
Dawn, are you sure?
JOYCE
You can't stop them. Remember the
earrings you gave to aunt Paula?
Trust me... it's best to just let
go.
BUFFY
Like Hell...
DAWN
I'm sure. You should have something
to remember her by.
Willow and Dawn share a look and Willow goes to grab the
shirt, but realizes that it's not in Dawn's hand anymore.
WILLOW
Where'd it go?
DAWN
I just had it...
ANGLE : BUFFY
No shirt in hand, but a very proud look on her face. She
turns to talk to Joyce but finds herself in...

INT. TRAINING ROOM -- DAY
GILES sits alone, looking at Buffy's training equipment.
Buffy's face changes. She sees the pain in his face. She
turns to talk to Joyce, but Joyce isn't there. Instead, KENDRA
is in her place.
BUFFY
(slight smile)
Kendra.
Kendra is as straight-faced as ever. All work.
KENDRA
Hello, Buffy.
BUFFY
You're a host too?
KENDRA
I am.
BUFFY
And you still haven't managed the
concept of fun?
KENDRA
I haven't.
BUFFY
Just to be clear, you are still
capable of speaking more than two
words per sentence, right?
KENDRA
It is good to see you too. But that
is not why we are here.
Buffy looks back to Giles.
BUFFY
He's in pain.
KENDRA
You were more than a slayer to him.
He loved you like you were his child.
BUFFY
He was the best father I could wish
for. I mean, since my own dad went
AWOL.
Giles sits in a chair. Buffy goes to him and watches as his
eyes tear up. Giles cannot see her.
GILES
I miss you, Buffy.

BUFFY
I'm here.
GILES
You shouldn't have had to die. You
deserved to live a long life. A family
of your own.
BUFFY
Giles, I'm fine.
GILES
I should have done something. I could
have prevented this.
BUFFY
No. Don't think like that.
JENNY (O.S.)
He's lost a lot.
Buffy turns and sees that Kendra has been replaced with JENNY
CALENDAR.
BUFFY
He shouldn't have to feel this pain.
JENNY
When I died, I watched him go through
the same thing. You were there to
help him through it.
BUFFY
But I'm not here now.
JENNY
The pain will dull. Live will go on
for him.
Jenny walks to Giles puts her face next to his, looking into
his eyes.
JENNY (CONT'D)
He'll get over it.
BUFFY
I'm not sure he ever got over you.
How do we know?
JENNY
We have to trust. We have to let go.
BUFFY
I can't just leave him like this.
JENNY
You already left.

BUFFY
You know what I mean.
INT. ANGEL'S HOTEL -- DAY
Buffy finds herself standing in the middle of the hotel.
She's not sure where she is.
BUFFY
(to Jenny)
I want to go back.
JENNY
Sorry, I don't control this ride.
BUFFY
Where am I?
ANGEL walks down the stairs, broody as usual. Buffy sees
him.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Angel?
JENNY
We might die, but love never does.
As long as it exists within a person,
the pain will live. We can't wait
until our loved ones get over us,
because they never will. But they
will have to learn to live. To adapt.
As you've had to do.
BUFFY
When did you turn into zen lady?
JENNY
I've had time to ponder.
Angel walks to the counter and stands there, just thinking.
Brooding. Buffy walks to him.
BUFFY
So he'll have to live with this
forever?
JENNY
Until his time comes. Or until...
BUFFY
Until what?
JENNY
I can't say. It's only a rumor anyway.

BUFFY
I thought when you died, you got all
the answers. All I've gotten so far
is more questions.
JENNY
Answers come in time.
BUFFY
I guess I have time to spare. Not
like I'm gonna run out of eternity,
right?
Buffy studies Angel's face.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
Not that I'm hoping or anything, but
if he ever loses his soul, I get to
see him, right?
Jenny doesn't answer. Buffy turns back to Angel and tries to
touch his face, but she can't. He hand GOES RIGHT THROUGH
IT. She is saddened. She wishes she could have one more touch.
One more kiss. But she's also confused.
BUFFY (CONT'D)
What about Riley? I want to see Riley.
JENNY
Sorry. I told you, I can't control
this.
BUFFY
Can you put in a request or something?
I need to see him. I need to say
goodbye.
JENNY
It doesn't work that way.
BUFFY
Please.
INT. SPIKE'S CRYPT -- NIGHT
And now Buffy finds herself in the crypt. SPIKE is resting
on his bed thing, just looking up at the ceiling. Jenny is
replaced with Kendra.
BUFFY
(to Kendra)
Hi again.
She looks around.

BUFFY (CONT'D)
It's night. This ride isn't totally
real-time, is it?
KENDRA
No.
Kendra walks around Spike, looking at him.
KENDRA (CONT'D)
He's in pain?
BUFFY
I guess so.
KENDRA
Because you befriended him.
BUFFY
Yeah.
(beat)
And he was in love with me.
Kendra looks up at her.
KENDRA
Another vampire?
BUFFY
Hey, I never said I loved him back.
KENDRA
But he's got no soul. He can't love.
BUFFY
Oh, he can. He can love quite well.
If not wisely... Or so I'm told,
anyway.
(beat)
He's got a chip.
KENDRA
A chip?
BUFFY
A computer chip. The government put
it in his head. He can't hurt humans
anymore.
KENDRA
But he still has no soul.
BUFFY
Nope.
KENDRA
Then how can you be his friend?

BUFFY
It's complicated.
KENDRA
No, it's not. He has no soul. When
he returns to his nature, people
will die. You should have staked him
when you had the chance.
BUFFY
We pretty much just have this one
conversation over and over, don't
we?
There's a THUMP that comes from Spike's underground access.
He stands up and grabs a stake. Buffy and Kendra step back
to watch. There are more sounds. FOOTSTEPS. Spike waits
quietly to see who is there. He doesn't hide or take cover,
he stands his ground, ready to fight. Wanting to fight.
A hand reaches out from the hole in the floor. It's nails
painted black with white tips. and slowly a head emerges.
It's DRUSILLA!
Spike is shocked. Buffy wants to see what happens next, but
she won't get her way.
INT. DAWN'S FOYER -- DAY
Buffy finds herself standing next to Joyce at the bottom of
the stairs. Dawn and TARA are sitting on the stairs, eating
pizza. Moving boxes rest nearby.
DAWN
So this one time, Buffy was fighting
these, like, zombie guys. They were
after this really ugly mask mom
brought home from the gallery. And
one of mom's friends put on the mask
and became the demon and she was
fighting Buffy in the backyard. So
me and Oz went out to tell her how
to kill the demon, only she already
knew and put a shovel through it's
eyes. And I was all "Here's looking
at you, kid."
(then)
Only nobody laughed. I guess it was
obvious.
TARA
Zombies can kill the mood.
DAWN
That's true.

BUFFY
My line was funnier anyway.
JOYCE
She has a lot on her plate.
BUFFY
And anchovies. Yuck.
JOYCE
I don't mean that plate.
BUFFY
Right. It's been a long few minutes.
Sorry.
JOYCE
She's so young. She needs someone to
be with her.
BUFFY
Maybe dad will come back.
JOYCE
Your father. Right. He's in Spain.
BUFFY
Yeah. Spain.
TARA
I don't have to take the room. I'm
fine on the couch.
BUFFY
He didn't even come to your funeral.
DAWN
Tara, you couldn't stand up straight
for two hours this morning.
JOYCE
It's not what it seems. Your father
is a good man.
BUFFY
When he's around. Maybe Giles can
watch her. Adopt her.
JOYCE
Maybe.
BUFFY
She has a family that loves her.
JOYCE
But they're not blood.

BUFFY
I know.
Dawn and Tara finish eating.
TARA
What do you say? Back to work?
DAWN
Sure.
They put their plates on the table next to the door and grab
a box, each taking one side.
BUFFY
But they love her.
TARA
You want me to go up backwards?
DAWN
I got it.
Dawn steps back onto the stairs, leading the way up. They
don't get far before the DOORBELL RINGS. Dawn and Tara
exchange looks. Who could this be?
DAWN (CONT'D)
It can't be a social worker, right?
TARA
Willow said the spell should last a
while.
DAWN
Okay, so we should get it then?
They walk back down the stairs and put the box down. Tara
stands next to Dawn as Dawn opens the door.
ANGLE : THE DOOR
Glory's minions, GRONX, JINX and MURK stand outside.
ANGLE : DAWN AND TARA
Shocked. A little scared.

ACT TWO
FADE IN:
INT. DAWN'S FOYER -- NIGHT
Where we left off. Dawn and Tara are shocked. They start to
back away, and close the door.
GRONX
Please, wait!
JINX
We must speak with you.
Buffy looks out the door just before is shuts.
BUFFY
What's this all about?
Dawn and Tara look at each other.
DAWN
What do we do?
TARA
Wait here.
Tara laves Dawn alone for a moment, and returns with a
crossbow in hand.
DAWN
Do you know how to use that?
TARA
N--Not really. But I can try to look
like I do. Open the door.
Dawn opens the door. Tara aims the crossbow at the minions.
TARA (CONT'D)
(to minions)
Speak fast.
INT. SPIKE'S CRYPT -- NIGHT
Spike is sitting down, watching Drusilla walk around the
room. Kendra is with Buffy now.
BUFFY
(to Kendra)
So do you stay here when I'm not
here, or do you go someplace else?
SPIKE
Dru.

DRUSILLA
Shh. I'm listening to the birds
talking in the corner.
SPIKE
That's great, love. But would you
mind telling me why the bleeding
Hell you're here?
Buffy and Kendra watch Spike and Dru talk. Dru turns to Spike.
DRUSILLA
I'm here to help, my Spike. To ease
your pain and bring back the pretty
colors.
SPIKE
Have you totally forgotten that I
tried to put a stake through your
heart? I don't want your help, Dru.
I've changed.
DRUSILLA
Illusions. All illusions. But your
reason is dead. Your head is pulsing
with pain, caused by your plastic.
SPIKE
What are you talking about? I haven't
hurt any humans in a long time.
DRUSILLA
You mistake, Spike. Your chip causes
you pain even when you've been a
good boy. It causes feelings of pain
and longing. I could feel your pain
for miles. It makes you think you're
one of them. But it's just survival,
Spike.
BUFFY
Even dead, I can't make a lick of
sense out what this girl says.
Drusilla looks directly at Buffy and puts a finger to her
lips.
DRUSILLA
Shh. No interrupting when I'm in a
way.
Buffy is freaked. She looks to Kendra, then back to Dru.
BUFFY
Sorry?

Dru turns back to Spike who still has no idea that Buffy is
there.
DRUSILLA
I can see them around you still.
Slayers. They feed you. They power
you. But they are not your battery.
They watch, and watch, but Spike is
the one in the world. You are the
one who creates pain, not them. As
it should be. As it will again.
SPIKE
Uh-huh. So you want to help me? To
bring me back to your side of things,
do you?
DRUSILLA
In time, you will see the feast before
you. You'll laugh and you'll play
and you'll realize yourself. But you
can't skip the chapter. You must
find the bunny on your own and feed
upon it as you would a roast. But
first you must tend to your wounds.
I shall help you heal in anticipation
of the feast to come.
SPIKE
Right. I see. Well then, in that
case...
EXT. DAWN'S PORCH -- NIGHT
Buffy finds herself standing next to Dawn and Tara who are
now just outside the doorway. Tara's not aiming the crossbow
anymore.
BUFFY
(re: the sudden change
of scenery)
Hey! I was watching that!
She looks around and sees Joyce standing behind the minions.
DAWN
(confused)
Wait. Okay, I'm a little confused.
Would you mind explaining that all
to me again. Slower and maybe with
diagrams?
BUFFY
(to Joyce)
What's going on?

MURK
Ever since the death of the most
curly and fresh, Glorificus, we have
found our world to be... pointless.
DAWN
I'm with you so far. You're losers
and you don't have lives. Next page.
GRONX
We simply beg of you to let us worship
you, oh magnificently luminous one.
TARA
You wanna worship her?
DAWN
Why?
GRONX
Because. You are the Key. The Key to
the existance of this universe.
DAWN
I am?
JINX
You are. And we would be honored to
have the privilege of being your
faithful servants.
DAWN
You would?
TARA
I thought you worshiped Glory.
MURK
Glory could not defeat the powerful
and mighty Key.
DAWN
Actually, she couldn't defeat the
powerful and mighty Key's sister.
MURK
Then you are the only living blood
of that power. That makes you even
more wonderful.
BUFFY
(to Joyce)
Is this, by any chance, like a whole
Wonderful Life thing to get me to
want to live? Cause, really, I'm
there. Ready to live now.
(MORE)

BUFFY (CONT'D)
Ready to go back to my minions and
have my bidding be done by them.
JOYCE
This isn't like that, dear. You're
dead.
BUFFY
Wah. No fair. I finally get minions
and I'm too dead to enjoy it. I mean,
I know that death is my gift and
all, but maybe it's returnable. Do
you still have the receipt?
DAWN
So what do I have to do in all of
this? What's my job?
GRONX
We simply desire to please you, oh
brown hair-ed one.
DAWN
So I just get to, like, boss you all
around? And you have to do what I
say?
MURK
Mmm-hmm.
DAWN
And you stop trying to kill me, right?
JINX
Of course.
Dawn and Tara look at each other, totally thrown by all of
this.
DAWN
Okay, I don't get this. Explain it
again.
INT. THE MAGIC BOX -- DAY
Buffy finds herself in the magic shop with Kendra. Willow,
XANDER, ANYA, CORDELIA and Giles are hanging around the shop,
not up to anything important. Buffy looks around.
BUFFY
We're back to day. Time really flies
when you're dead.
(to Kendra)
So what happened with Dawn and the
minion guys?

KENDRA
Minion guys?
BUFFY
Right. You weren't there, so you
don't know. Somehow, I thought you'd
be able to watch people when you're
dead.
(then)
So what's the haps here?
Anya walks behind the counter. Cordelia goes to Xander and
quietly talks to him.
CORDELIA
I think that it might be time for me
to find another place to stay while
I'm in town.
XANDER
Why?
CORDELIA
This just seem a bit weird. I mean
with Angel and Wes here, it was
different, but I think it's starting
to get to Anya.
XANDER
I told her not to say anything to
you.
CORDELIA
She hasn't.
XANDER
Then why?
CORDELIA
Well, sometimes I notice her giving
me these looks. Y'know, the kind you
give people when you're secretly
wishing that you had the ability to
make their eyes pop?
Xander and Cordy both turn and look at Anya.
ANGLE : ANYA
She's watching them. When they look over at her, her look
changes from "eye popper" to a fake smile and she waves at
them.
ANGLE : XANDER AND CORDY
XANDER
So, where are you thinking of staying?

Dawn and Tara walk through the doors. Both smiling and wearing
stylish, designer looking dresses and looking all model-y.
As they walk in, everyone in the room turns to see them.
CORDELIA
When did you two turn into Vogue
cover models?
And then Murk, Gronx and Jinx walk into the store. Everyone
jumps to their feet, ready to fight.
DAWN
Wait!
Everyone pauses.
DAWN (CONT'D)
These are my minions now.
BUFFY
Only because I'm dead.
KENDRA
These must be the minion guys.
BUFFY
With that quick thinking, it's no
wonder you lived so long.
WILLOW
Minions?
TARA
She has minions.
Anya walks over to Dawn and Tara and looks at their dresses.
ANYA
These are very pretty.
(to Gronx)
Make me one.
GRONX
I obey only the orders of the
splendidly fragrant one.
DAWN
That'd be me.
ANYA
(to Dawn)
Tell them to make me one.
DAWN
Okay.
(MORE)

DAWN (CONT'D)
(to Gronx)
Make her one. And the same for any
of the others if they want new stuff.
TARA
You guys should see how fast they
make these things.
DAWN
I'm gonna have a new wardrobe by the
day after tomorrow.
GILES
Dawn are you sure this is wise?
As the conversation goes on, Anya and Cordy are measured by
the minions for new clothes. Both are glowing with excitment.
DAWN
They promised they wouldn't try to
kill me anymore.
XANDER
And you trust them?
DAWN
Not at first. But after they made us
some snacks...
TARA
Hot fudge sundaes and then pie with
hot cocoa.
DAWN
After that, we talked it through and
we thought it would be nice of us to
let them do my bidding. Cause they're
needy and alone and scared. We'd be
rude to deny them.
WILLOW
Even though they tried to kill us on
several occasions and helped Glory
in her path to brain sucking Tara
and almost causing total chaos
throughout the dimensions.
DAWN
We deal in redemption, don't we? I
mean, Angel and Spike and Anya and
Giles.
GILES
Me?

DAWN
Well, you had that tattoo demon that
almost killed Buffy, remember?
XANDER
But Dawn, this is different...
somehow. I'm sure.
(to Willow)
Isn't it?
WILLOW
It is. It really is, and... are those
shoes real leather?
INT. MYSTERY ROOM -- DAY
It's day, but we can only assume that. We can only assume
anything, since it's totally dark. Nothing to see at all.
BUFFY
Where am I? Who's here?
INT. THE MAGIC BOX -- DAY
A few minutes after we last saw them. The minions are now
starting to cut fabric for Anya and Cordy dresses. Where
they got this, we may never know. Buffy watched, with Kendra.
CORDELIA
Well, I for one think it's cool that
she has minions. Wish I had one.
ANYA
Me too.
(to Dawn)
Let me have one.
DAWN
Sorry. They've grown attached to me.
ANYA
That's just not fair. A thousand
years, I beg D'Hoffryn to send me
minions. "They're in the mail", he
tells me over and over. But do I get
my minions? No. Does that sound fair
to anyone in this room?
GILES
I'm still not happy with this.
XANDER
I'm gonna have to side with Giles on
this one. Are we forgetting that
these monsters are part of the reason
why Buffy is dead?

Dawn takes this comment like a hit in the gut. Her face goes
from playful to serious and she once again is filled with
thoughts of Buffy.
XANDER (CONT'D)
Dawn, I didn't mean to... That was
stupid of me to say.
CORDELIA
It really was.
DAWN
It's ok... I mean...
And Dawn walks off into the training room. Her minions follow.
Kendra TURNS INTO JOYCE.
INT. TRAINING ROOM -- DAY
Buffy finds herself, with Joyce, watching Dawn who isn't
crying, just thinking really hard. The minions enter the
room. Dawn looks at them.
DAWN
Get out of here.
JINX
But your most silky soft one, we...
DAWN
I said, get out. Now. I want to be
alone.
MURK
Of course.
And the minions walk back into the magic shop.
BUFFY
Dawn.
JOYCE
She'll be okay. She's strong. Like
you.
BUFFY
Yeah, I was okay. After a shutting
down emotionally, and then having a
mental breakdown. And then there's
the fact that I died about twenty
seconds after I was okay.
JOYCE

know why I keep coming back. Pretty
wolf's got fangs, but no bite. Let
him starve a while and he'll remember
the way to the feeding ground.

Or you'll huff and you'll puff.
KENDRA
Do you think he'll stake her?
BUFFY
I don't know. I know he still loves
her, but he is acting weird.

Spike's had enough. He attacks Dru. They fights. Dru laughs
a bit during it. It's a game to her.

Y'know, this is actually how I always
imagined their relationship.
They continue to fight. Spike's dead serious about it. Dru
is having fun.
INT. ANGEL'S HOTEL -- DAY
Angel and Wes are sitting. Angel is reading a book. Wes, the
paper. Buffy is with Jenny again. There's a long beat of
silence.
BUFFY
I got taken away from the fight to
watch these two read?
(beat)
Do they ever talk when I'm not around?
Wes looks over his paper at Angel. Angel notices.
ANGEL
What?
WESLEY
It's nothing.
BUFFY
They speak. It's a miracle.
ANGEL
You're looking at me. You're thinking

I was just... wondering if Cordy's
had any visions is all.
ANGEL

The PHONE RINGS. Wes ignores it. Angel looks at him.

THE MACHINE BEEPS. An English, male voice is heard.

Wesley, we know you're getting these

Another BEEP. Angel looks at Wes who is trying to ignore the
message. Angel takes the hint.
They both go back to reading. A moment later, Wes looks over
his paper again. Angel once again notices.
ANGEL
Wesley, if you have something to
say, just tell me.
WESLEY
It's just... you've been reading the
same page for almost an hour.
ANGEL
I--I like to take my time.
WESLEY
Angel, I've known toddlers who could
read faster than that.

You're thinking about her. You miss

room. All dressed in fancy clothes and looking like they're
expecting Joan Rivers to be grading their fashion sense.

So, where have you been since you
left, Oz? I bet you've seen a lot of
cool stuff.
OZ
I have. I stayed mostly in Alaska.
There was this shaman who was helping
me to control the wolf.
TARA
How is that coming? I mean, can you
control the wolf now?
OZ
Well, I'm not gonna chase you down,
if that's what you mean. But I still
have work to do.
DAWN
(sad)
So you're leaving again.
OZ

But I'll hang for a while. Make sure

You've been eating a lot of pizza.
TARA
It's been a weird few weeks.
Tara is obviously holding back now. Oz notices.
OZ
Are you okay?
TARA

OZ
You sure? You look troubled.
TARA
It's just... Willow.
OZ

TARA
She ch--changing.
BUFFY
So it wasn't just me who noticed?

TARA
She's using dark magic. Things that

Joyce. Buffy looks at her.

Spike and Dru aren't fighting anymore. Spike is tired. Sitting
down. Buffy watches. Who she is with, we do not see.
DRUSILLA

Spike is just too tired. Almost breaking into tears because
he's just so worn out.
SPIKE
Please. Just leave. I...

I'm a vampire. I should be evil.
He sits up and softly puts his hand on her face.

Dru bites his hand playfully. Spike pulls away.

But at the same time, I'm filled
with all these feelings and thoughts
that I shouldn't have. I love the
slayer. I need her, but she's gone.
I know it could never be, but I miss
her so damn much, it hurts.
DRUSILLA
Like a puppy being paper trained.
Spank it when it's bad. Spank it
when it's wrong and ruins the new
sofa. But when it's on the paper,

BUFFY
He has so much to deal with.
Buffy turns to talk to whoever is with her.

But then she sees who she's talking to. It's GLORY. Buffy
stops short when she sees her.

INT. DAWN'S KITCHEN -- DAY
Dawn is working in the kitchen, trying to make a sandwhich.
The minions follow her around, walking too close to her.
Annoying her a little.
Buffy comes CRASHING into the floor from off screen. She
hits the ground hard. Glory walks up to her and stands over
her.
GLORY
Look, you just have to give it up.
BUFFY
I'm not the type to give up. You
should know that.
Buffy jumps to her feet and attacks Glory. They continue
fighting.
Dawn bumps into one of the minions, and the last straw is
broken.
DAWN
Don't you things have somewhere else
to be?
GRONX
But, your most neatly folded and
stored one, we need orders from you
before we have anything to do.
JINX
We live to serve you.
DAWN
Fine. Whatever. Go mow the lawn or
something.
Buffy throws Glory across the room. Glory hits the wall, but
NOTHING IS HARMED. Since she exists outside of reality, it's
just like she hit one flat, really strong wall. Dawn and the
others don't even have a clue of what's happening.
MURK
We've already done that today.
GRONX
Twice.
MURK
But we'd gladly do it again, if you
so wish.

Glory crashes to the ground in the floor of the shop. Buffy

All in fancy new clothes. Just hanging around. The Buffy/Glory
fight continues.

princess in the kingdom of the freaky
looking demon people. I mean it when
I say, it was the post pathetic place
ever. I totally saw every twist and
turn coming from a mile away.

much every Star Trek episode ever
and Xander made me watch all of them
when we were dating.
ANYA

annoying. He insists that the old
series is better, but who wants to
watch William Shatner pretend to act

fighting demons and lawyers. It's

CORDELIA
I thought so. Anyway, it's pretty
cool. He watches out for me, which

living with an invisible man-ghost

tries to say something, but Buffy doesn't give her the chance.
Buffy sweeps Glory's feet out from under her and Glory slams

WILLOW
You wouldn't dare.
Buffy and Glory continue fighting.
XANDER
Anyone seen Giles? He's been kinda
distant the last couple days.
ANYA
Maybe he sees the pointlessness of
waiting around the shop for customers
that haven't stepped one money
spending foot through that door in
days.
TARA
I hope the barbeque didn't kill them
or something. Does anyone know if
dragon meat is safe?
WILLOW
I'm sure...
But Willow's cut off because Buffy and Glory once again change
locations.
INT. SPIKE'S CRYPT -- DAY
Spike and Dru are sitting together on the floor. Dru is
holding Spike. Buffy and Glory continue fighting all around
them.
DRUSILLA
My poor boy. All alone.
SPIKE
But you're here now.
DRUSILLA
That's right. I'm here... now.
SPIKE
It'll be just like old times. We can
travel the world, doing what we
please. Nobody can stop us, right?

All the gifts and flowers in the

Glory throws Buffy down on the floor right in front of Dru.
Dru GASPS. Buffy and Glory continue fighting. Dru tries to
ignore them.

But now isn't our time. The world
spins and turns and shakes as it has
for centuries. As it will continue
to do. And we are destines to be
together, my love. But you have your
trip. We can't be together until you
come home.
SPIKE
But I am home, Dru. You're my home.
My world.
DRUSILLA
No, my pet. You're on a road. Miles
from home, but you're coming up on
the fork. The right leads back to
the house filled with maids and
servants all tied up and refigerated.
The left leads to your demise. But
the left is blocked, Spike. You
haven't the toll money.
SPIKE
Are you telling me that you're leaving
me? You can't do that to me. Not
now. Dru, I need you.
DRUSILLA
I've done all I can. For now, anyway.
Dru stands and WALKS THROUGH BUFFY who pays her no attention.
She stands next to the door and looks back.
SPIKE
When will you be back?
DRUSILLA
When your time comes.
Dru turns and puts her hand on the doorknob. Big dramatic
pause like one of the old Buffy/Angel scenes.
DRUSILLA (CONT'D)
When your time comes.
She starts to open the door.

Dru. It's day. Remember?
DRUSILLA
Right.
Correcting herself, Dru walks back to the hole in the ground
and disappears into the floor.
Spike sits alone, taking this all in. He puts his head in
his hands. He's silent for a moment, but slowly, he begins
to laugh.
Buffy throws Glory down.
INT. ANGEL'S HOTEL -- DAY
Glory and Buffy are fighting up on the top of the stairs
near the front door. Wes is working at the counter. Angel is
reading in the same place he was before.
WESLEY
Angel, have you seen my yellow
notebook?
ANGEL
(not looking up)
Look in the office.
WESLEY
Right.
Wes walks back to the office. When he's gone, Angel takes a
piece of paper out of the book he's reading. He studies the
paper.
ANGLE : THE PAPER
It's a picture of Buffy.
THE PHONE RINGS. Angel puts the picture back in the book and
closes the book. Wes walks out of the office, holding a
notebook.
ANGEL
Wesley, answer the phone.
WESLEY
I'll let the machine get it.
ANGEL
Wes, just answer the phone.
Wesley doesn't want to, but Angel shoots him a look that
makes him change his mind.

Buffy, while punching Glory in the face, hears this.
BUFFY
I die and people all of the sudden
feel free to rip of my lines.

I won't do it.
Angel stands and walks to Wes. He wants to know what's going
on.
WESLEY (CONT'D)
I don't work for you anymore, you

Unless, of course, you do that.

Wes hangs up and looks at Angel.
WESLEY (CONT'D)
You're not going to believe this.
INT. DAWN'S LIVING ROOM -- DAY
As Buffy and Glory continue the fightathon, Dawn enters the
room and sits on the couch. She looks around her seat for
the remote for the tv.
She gets on the floor and looks under the couch for it. She
finds it and stands back up. When she turns to sit back on
the couch, she sees the minions standing right behind her.
She jumps.

Dawn sits on the couch and turns on the tv. The minions don't
move. After a beat, Dawn looks back up at them.
JINX
Would you like a snack?
DAWN
I'm full. You can go now.
GRONX
But we have nowhere to go.
MURK
Wouldn't you like us to attack
someone, or possibly plot the end of
the world?
DAWN
I'm not really the type to plot the
end of the world.
GRONX
Perhaps we could spy on your enemies
and find out what they're plotting.
DAWN
Sorry. You guys are the last of my
enemies.
GRONX
Right.
JINX
What would you like us to do then?
DAWN
(beat)
Can't think of a thing. You guys
have done it all.
Buffy throws Glory across the room. Glory hits the floor
hard.

BUFFY
If you can't take the beat, get out

Okay, not my best line.
They resume fighting.
MURK
I beg of you. Please, give us
something to do.
Dawn turns off the tv and stands up to look at her minions.
DAWN
You guys need to get lives. Fast.
You're in serious need of some you
time.
GRONX
What do you mean?
DAWN
Well... when was the last time you
weren't taking orders? When was the
last time you got to do what you
wanted to do?
JINX
But we live to serve.
DAWN
You lived to serve Glory. Glory's
gone. You need to find a way to move
on and be your own people. Or, y'know,
whatever you are. I think you should
leave.
MURK
Where will we go?
DAWN
Wherever you want. It's up to you.
But you need to do this, or else
you'll always be serving someone.
You'll always be the minions. Do you
really want that?
JINX/MURK/GRONX
Yeah, sure./ Sounds good to me./ I
could live with that.
Dawn rolls her eyes.

Okay, just get out.
INT. TRAINING ROOM -- DAY
Giles once again sits alone. Buffy and Glory continue the
fight.
Buffy punches Glory. Glory punches her back hard. Buffy flies
across the room.
GLORY
Now, like I was saying. Would you
just give up already? This fighting
ain't getting us anywhere, honey.
BUFFY
I'm not giving up.
Buffy gets back to her feet.
GLORY
You don't have a choice. Incase you
couldn't tell, we're not really
feeling the burn with this little
workout. This could go on forever.
BUFFY
Then it'll go on forever.
GLORY
You don't get it, do you? This isn't
a fight for life or death. This is
all about death. Accept it. Move on.
I'm not your enemy.
BUFFY
Coulda fooled me.
(beat)
Okay, I'll bite. If you're not my
enemy, what are you?
GLORY
I'm just your escort to the white
fluffy clouds.
BUFFY
I don't buy it. You're evil.
GLORY
And it was either this job, or
spending eternity listening to that
annoying Satan of yours ramble on
and on about his poor little ego.
Even I couldn't take that. So it's
just me and the eternal taxi cab
service.

BUFFY
I'm not even gonna ask how you worked
this deal out.
GLORY
The point is, you have to come with
me.
BUFFY
I'm not going. I've told you that.
My friends need me.
GLORY
And you're gonna what? Ouija your
way into their lives?
BUFFY
I'll be here for them.
GLORY
They don't need you. If you come
with me, you'll be able to help them
deal with their own deaths when that
time comes. If you stay here, you'll
suffer an eternity without them when
they're all dead.
Buffy looks at Giles.
BUFFY
They're in so much pain.
GLORY
Wounds heal.
Giles gets up and walks to the door out of the room. He turns
around for one last look, then turns off the light and leaves.
Buffy takes a moment to think.
Behind her a LIGHT APPEARS.
GLORY (CONT'D)
Time to go.
BUFFY
I'll find a way home.
The light grows blindingly bright. When it finally fades,
Buffy and Glory are gone.
